He gets to take home a $10,000 prize for his efforts. Xenocider gets more money for a firstplace in a tournament with C-level players than Life/Naniwa will get for placing second at IEM which was stacked.

Well, he didn't get any WCS points, so there is a difference in the end. Big congrats to Xeno, well done! I was just going to say this. But yes, a huge congrats to Xeno. Hopefully, it won't be long before he starts trading games with the big boys. I'm also glad that he's playing in these "smaller" tournaments to gain some experience and confidence (and money!). It was clear to him that he was not good enough when he first joined EG to hang with the best of the best. There's no shame in admitting it, and sometimes you need to take one step back before you can take two steps forward. (Hell, even Bisu was sent back to the B-team at one point). While he may not be getting the spotlight from these wins, what he's doing is much more productive than trying to trudge on after taking loss after loss, and I admire him for that.

I mean, it was in Korea, and there are so many Korean players who I thought would jump at this chance.

Yeah I don't know I've seen him on twitter and he seems kind of immature and cocky. But I reserve judgement I guess. Yeah because you have to be humble and mature after winning ten thousand dollars playing a video game. For fucks sake, its a fucking game. He's 16, at best. You know how cocky and full of shit EVERY MAN IS AT 16?! You all are so freaking stupid. Oh he's cocky and immature. He plays a video game for a living, while in high school. It cracks me up all the comments about all these young, or even old, players being 'bad mannered' or 'immature'. Do you not watch professional sports? Shit talking, and being immature is the nature of the beast. Competition gets the worst of people. And for the retard with the 'you didn't read that outloud before posting it, did you' comment... Why would I? He knows when to pull the boys and go for the win...or as some people would say SCV train? I call em the boys. He pulls the boys out vs protoss and wins. And now I'm ready for the flaming from all the butt hurt people who rabble rabble rabble when someone isn't their image of a professional GAMEr.... User was temp banned for this post.

He came off that way but I did say I reserved judgement and didn't bad talk Xeno. I don't expect a ton out of 16 year olds so I didn't intend to hate on him. But I will disagree in some aspects. Well, he didn't get any WCS points, so there is a difference in the end. Big congrats to Xeno, well done! Pretty sure most players at IEM would trade some of their WCS points for money :p They could have done that buy going to this event. But they went to IEM and Libo won the money. I mean, people are aware that they normally set the prize money before the players sign up? Its not like they gauge the level cash to hand out based on who is attending.

Well played. you win the thread, I agree. Good job getting that money, guys!! It's not the first time in sc2 history there's been a fairly unknown tournament with a good prize pool and seemingly random selection of players, I can think of quite a few off the top of my head, just get over it!!

Your ignorant asses are the problem... who cares man? Xeno won and thats cool. who cares about the price money for some other guys that got second in another tournament, the news is : xeno won IEF. Period. damn thats annoying... something comes up and the only thing that is relevant is complaining about other stuff.. TAHT is killing e-sports

He had been so depressed (showing this via status updates on twitter/Facebook) about his previous results and I hope that this will give him the foresight not to became demotivated when results aren't as expected. You can't always do well in this evern-changing world of eSports. I think if a Code S player attended this would have been a rofl-stomp though.

I am happy that there are still from time to time big, less known tournaments with money. This one was with big money. That is good. We all know that SC2 is not doing well nowadays. One of the ways to keep players in this e-sport game is to organize such tournaments. To give more players chances of winning big money. Congratulations to Xeno, awesome win!

And now I'm ready for the flaming from all the butt hurt people who rabble rabble rabble when someone isn't their image of a professional GAMEr.... muricans..

Some of you seems not to know about this tournament. This tournament was played in Korean esport festival. Why only semipro or amateur koreans? There was preliminary for koreans and only semipro/amateurs were allowed to play. There were invites for foreign players but some of them cancelled. This is reason for some BYE. Naniwa most likely was one of these. Tournament was casted by Wolf and Whiplash. Reason why you didnt know about this tournament might be that you dont follow Ret, Welmu, Xenocider, Wolf, HasuObs, Whiplash or EG on Twitter. Or you don't follow TeamLiquid forums :D (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=431959) You find pictures from IEF 2013 from here: http://www.ief.kr/bbs/board.php?bo_table=gallery&wr_id=55 (pictures are VERY BIG)

Although the only real experience I have of this is the other way around, which I don't see much of in this thread (i.e., Finns gloating over Swedes because of Welmu's cash money). Faniwas. A well coined phrase, man. Welmu does look like he's crying behind his glasses in this picture. So funny to see next to the elated smile of Libo.
