Day 2 of HomeStory Cup VIII saw the Ro32 conclude, with the final eight players making their way to the Ro16. EG.Stephano attracted much attention in his return to progaming after his 'retirement' three months ago. The French Zerg looked capable, if rusty, in a 2 - 1 win over ToD in his comeback match. However, he was unable to overcome the hurdle of Korea's Leenock in a match with Ro16 advancement on the line, and was later eliminated from the tournament by ToD in a rematch.
In Group G, Mill.BabyKnight became the only non-Korean player in the Ro32 to take the #1 spot in his group, defeating AZUBU.Symbol for that honor. Symbol's devotion to making mass burrow-roaches proved to be his downfall, with BabyKnight playing solid enough to withstand to pressure and take a 2 - 1 victory.
Meanwhile, HyuN and Happy played the longest game of the tournament thus far in Group H, with a base-trade turning into a marathon game of hide-and-go-seek as HyuN scurried around the map making new bases while Happy's lumbering mech army tried to keep up. The game seemed like it might go on for hours, but a frustration GG from Happy saw it cut mercifully short. While Happy would lose that series, he would not end up regretting that somewhat premature GG as he still managed to advance from the group.
HomeStory Cup resumes on Saturday with the Ro16.

but no one was looking forward to sOs winning, we were looking for a JD win (no offense, i mean you even heard the crowds if you watched....it was like 5 seconds of applause then quiet.). and since Stephano is much more popular player then most from a foreigner standpoint i would say yes because hes known for not practicing and still winning against the greatest odds.

Even though this isn't all about Stephano but the whole Ro32, I don't think it deserves to be in community news.
Mmm, I dunno! Homestory cup feels like a perfect tournament; A collection of 32 players of reasonable skill put against each other in a showdown that doesn't only emphasize player skill, but also leaves a ton of space for the viewers to see player personality.
Maybe that's the difference. When you think WCS, the big story is the finals. When we're talking HSC? It's not the finals that matter, it's all the cool shit that's happened along the way.

next headline 'tod wins the HSC poker tournament' then? News are mostly news, not the cool shit.

I figure it was more to draw further attention to the fact that it's happening. The news is that the tournament is going on, and HSC's emphasis is on the earlier stages of the tournament as much as the finals, so a news post about what's important in the tournament seems appropriate.
If there was a writeup afterwards, though, I could definitely see ToD winning a poker tournament being a part of said writeup ;P
