The WCS Europe and America quarterfinals have concluded after two days of games, and we finally know who the final four contenders will be for each region.
In WCS Europe, the culling of the foreigners was completed as Acer.MMA and yoe.San eliminated Liquid`Snute and NrS.Welmu. Like VortiX the day before, the European players were unable to offer up much resistance and lost in one-sided matches.
WCS Europe
Coming into his match with a career record of 3-8 against MMA, Snute was unable to buck his losing trend. The Norwegian Zerg took one map off MMA in a game where he gained an early lead with speedlings, but the other three games followed the familiar pattern where he was overrun by MMA's waves of marines, medivacs and mines.
Welmu surrendered a clean sweep to San in a series where he was clinically dissected by the yoe Flash Wolves player. After defeating Welmu in a late-game, deathball war to begin the series, San followed it up with two quick victories where he punished Welmu's expansion attempts with incisive one-base attacks.
Though the results from Europe were largely unsurprising, the American portion of the broadcast started off with an upset. CMStorm_Polt, reigning two-time WCS America champion, was eliminated with a 1-3 loss to new teammate CMStorm_Revival. Revival's ZvT had looked promising back at IEM Katowice when he took another formidable Terran in jjakji to five games, a series Revival would have won if not for a one-in-a-million widow mine barrage.
Going up against Polt, Revival was able to play to the best of his abilities without committing any critical errors. From mass speed roaches, to standard muta-ling-bane, to early roach-baneling bust timings, Revival showed off his prowess at a variety of strategies as he knocked out the champion.

On the other hand, the final quarterfinal match betweenOzand ESC.Arthur couldn't have gone more predictably. Oz ended Arthur's underdog run with a clean 3-0 sweep, easily holding off the proxy and hidden building strategies Arthur employed in each game.
WCS Europe and America resume tomorrow with the semifinals. The grand finals for both regions will be played on Sunday.
Go JJakji, MMA, Hyun, and could care less about Revival vs. Oz! Disappointed with the overall quarterfinal results, but doesn't mean final 4 won't be sick

Before, judging from the admin who asks them to choose the maps in the background.
My predictions for both WCS regions is two protoss victories entirely due to coincidences and luck, simultaneously showing that protoss actually is balanced, and fueling the pitchfork train anyhow. The matchup for WCS Europe are looking really good, I must say.
Huh, much as I don't particularly care for Revival (especially over POLT ) I have to admit he's skilled. If he can take it to the championship (in exciting games) I might just have to start liking him lol
Could we have 2 PvP finals in both regions!?! Oh boy would that cause a shit fest all over the internet. David Kim might want to use some influence to make sure that doesn't happen hahahaa.
OT: Looks like some great matchups for the quarterfinals, I predicted Revival to win vs Polt, but I'm still sad nonetheless. I was actually way more into WCS NA and WCS EU this year than Korea, especially after sOs and herO lose right after getting back from IEM. Looking forward to these games!
Results for WCS EU weren't surprising. The previous article was meant to hype things up but it's too bad that Koreans are always really good at BOx series lol. Guess this means that there will never be a foreigner hope for some TL members to cheer for, rough. Snute never even stood a chance from the games that I saw. That 2 factory(or 3?) bf hellion that he lost 38 drones to was painful to see since there was a discussion as to whether he scouted it or not with an OL. Can't say much for Welmu though it sounded like his losses were even more painful than Snute. Polt losing in WCS AM is the shocker imo. TvZ seemed like his specialty but Revival played really well in his games and didn't donate all his mutalisks to 5-6 widow mines lol.
So many favorites on the semifinals, I feel really great after the results. From now whatever happens I'll be happy. But besides all - Go go Oz and MMA!
Bummed out about Taeja and Bomber getting knocked out. However, finally Alicia, Revival, Oz, Hyun, and San get the respect they deserve. I would love to see Alicia or Oz win a WCS after the long dedication they put in the game. Especially Alicia at a ripe age really needs this win. Here is hoping for an Alicia v Oz finals.

It's "couldn't care less" not "could care less." Could care less means that you can either care more or less about something, so in reality you're not saying anything.
Don't know where the Revival hate comes from, ok he beat the clear fan favorite but hes always been a solid player. Its great to see him doing so well after he recently found a new team. I was really scared that he might retire after EG dropped him.
