It was a good week for Axiom as the boys in blue did TB proud by going first through their respective groups.
In Group A, Heart swept through Pigbaby and Xigua in impressive fashion. The second game on Frost will likely go down as one of the year's best, as he made a massive comeback after Xigua’s ling-baneling bust sent Heart spiraling down to 7 scvs against a three base Zerg. Heart's frantic splitting allowed his middling number of marines to survive against equal numbers of banelings over multiple engagements, allowing him to claw his way back into the game. Axiom Esport’s youtube channel quickly put out this video upon his victory.
Behind him, Pigbaby would beat Oz and Xigua to continue his royal road through WCS AM. Despite players now becoming aware of his penchant for all ins and aggressive attacks, his micro and battle organization have looked superior, and he will hope that his future opponents will not have figured him out yet.
On the second game day of the week, Alicia topped his group with clear victories over both Nestea and HyuN. He played his signature stargate style and most notably reverse his losing streak against HyuN in WCS AM. The fact that he only had to prepare for one matchup likely played in his favor, and he looks good value to go even further if he continues to play Zergs.
Despite losing in the winner's match, HyuN would bounce back against Revival, defeating him 2-0 in straightforward games. An early speedling attack punished Revival's gasless opening on King Sejong Station, while a flood of roaches after small economic gains allowed HyuN to end the evening with his hopes of defending his title intact.
WCS AM Round of 16 continues on Tuesday, Jul 01 10:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) with Group C, featuring Bomber, TooDming, Polt and Check.
Qualified for Ro8: Heart, Pigbaby, Alicia, HyuN

There will be improvements in Season 3. Probably. :D

That's two Axiom players through, TB must be happy with this.

Wow. I just realized. If Bomber's TvT is as bad against Polt this season as it was last season, he could draw Alicia again.

I still can't get over Heart's comeback. I've been watching Starcraft all spring and summer and that was the best game I've seen thus far.
As for the rest of the groups, hoping Bomber and Polt make it through. WCS America may be considered the weakest region but it's pretty stacked at the top.

a shame revival didn't make it :< congrats to Alicia and Hyun.

Both finalists from last season's WCS AM are out already ouch. Man Heart's comeback was one of the most impressive things I've seen in a long time, definitely top 10 of the year, awesome game!

Oh man, for a second I thought this was CheckPrime.

It is the huge mistake that XiGua has done which resulted in the comeback of Heart.
Early game: 1. XiGua should have burst those SCVs in his initial attack. 2. It was not appropriate to continue those ling attack in the second wave of aggression. 3. Those baneling in the third wave was way too ambitious and actually wasteful.
Mid-game: 1. MOST important: XiGua did not extend his creep. The creep did not even reach the central area of the map. 2. He went for ling/baneling/muta attack outside creep = suicide. 3. He possessed those amount of mutas, but just did not fly those mutas to Heart's bases. Most of time, he just put his mutas outside his own bases to........ defend....... (what? you hold the huge advantage, why do you need to defend)
