Seriously though, Juan last left us on his quest to join Team 8, becoming one of the extremely rare foreigners to ever have the honor of playing for a KeSPA team. He left with our full support, and we had even invited him back that time with the agreement that if he got a KeSPA offer we would release him.
We ROOTed for him while he was in Korea, and we've ROOTed for him since he came back to our part of the world. Because he's back in the Americas, we once again have the opportunity to work with Juanito, bringing another ridiculously good Terran to our lineup. We look forward to seeing him continue to do well, and are excited for what he can bring to ROOT.
Here is what Juan had to say about his return to ROOT: I'm happy to come back to ROOT! I've been on many teams, but I always seem to come back home. Last time I departed was to join T8 which was my dream, now I feel really strong about my play and have started streaming on a more consistent basis. ROOT has always been friendly and supportive of me, and also has many of the best players in NA. I feel like this is the place for me to be and hope to achieve good results here. Wish me luck!"
Here is what CatZ said about Juanito: Fourth time's the charm! I've always been good friends with Juan and I am really happy that he's joining us again. Last time he joined it was specified in his contract that he'd have the option and full support from the team if he found a KeSPA team, as that was his dream and he did. Even though Juan has left ROOT a few times, he's joined MORE TIMES! and we've never said good bye on bad terms. It is a true pleasure to welcome Juanito into our lineup once again. He's a perfect fit for the team, without a doubt one of the best players in the Americas and I am very excited for our future together.

For doing what? Developing talent more effectively and thoroughly than any other foreign team? Being the launchpad for 2 North Americans to go to KeSPA? Having at least 3 players in WCS Premier every single season since the WCS system was created? Creating an organization that has been able to sustain itself and grow since it was created? Providing consistent entertainment for the fans with their streaming setup? Affording and maintaining a teamhouse for SC2 in North America?
ROOT is among the MOST respectable teams in e-sports for accomplishing all that they have, and I will continue to support them every step of the way.

People hating up on one the few good foreign Terrans that can demonstrate Koreal-level control. Don't question his dedication to the sport when he has clearly put in a lot of effort; and his skill is proof.

No one doubts his dedication to sc2 just to ROOT. I do love ROOT. After liquid and skt, they always have a special place in my heart for their development of players
To be fair, it was made pretty clear IIRC that Major wanted to go to Kespa. It was his main goal, and anything else would always come second to that.
He (I think) made that clear to ROOT last time, and maybe it's even the same situation again now (although less likely he will have another chance to go to Korea I guess). It's not like this is a case of "oh Major and ROOT are so stupid", it's a case of a guy with one key dream, Kespa, being given the chance to follow that dream by ROOT, and Major coming back to ROOT as well when he's had his chance.
If a motor racing driver was given a chance in Formula 1 from their current drive elsewhere, it's unlikely their team would want to deny them that opportunity, but if it doesn't work you can be sure they would probably be happy going back to their old team if they could.
Since the situation was made clear in the past, I don't see why anyone is making a big deal out of this.
At ROOT Gaming, we let Juan chase this dream -- contract or no, there's no way we would force somebody to play for us if they wanted to fulfill a dream like that. Juanito decided ROOT is his home, and although his dream of joining a KeSPA team remains, he decided that he would want to stay with ROOT at least until that dream becomes a reality. KeSPA teams are still an option for Juan, but we are letting Juan back into his contract with ROOT Gaming. If a time comes when he is offered the opportunity to join a KeSPA team, We have added an exception clause allowing Juan to go KeSPA.

“I really want to join, but to be completely clear I would like the opportunity to leave if I had the chance to join a KeSPA team, and for no other reason”
-Major
So yeah, he did what he said he would do if he could, and then he had his time in Korea, and now he's back.
The title should read... "MajOr rejoins ROOT." Anywayz I'm happy for these news. I love ROOT and Juan is a baws. GL to both and I hope this time, Juan stays for years to come.
roots the only team what would have him, all that backstabbing comments crap a few months ago . .better stay tight lipped or ur shit will be all over the internets
He should rlly just follow lastshadow and join korean league of legends by now. How can anyone take him serious with this shit. In 4 months we can all post in the major leaves root #4 thread.
Best terran NA hwaiting! Good luck to major on his "new" team. I'd love to see him join the team house to both help his new teammates and solidify his standing as an official member of root but I doubt it'll happen

lol Polt and Bunny both better foreign terrans. Avilo is close too.
Polt is better, but not foreign. I'd say Bunny, Dayshi, MajOr and Happy are forming the elite of foreign terrans atm. However, avilo is not that close to them. Aligulac has him at #126 at the moment and even if you consider, that a few player above him might only be there, because they are new and didn't play that much yet, there is still a good number of them, who are without a doubt better.
Yes he will probably leave again if he gets another really good opportunity. Root is normally fine with it (not just in his case), which is part of what makes them an awesome group of people. They genuinely care about and support their players and their careers, and still they outlasted a good number of more "ambitious" NA organizations.
Insignificant. What's most baffling is that this non-news appears on sites like TL and Reddit, and that people keep a straight face while commenting on it.

thats the thing, major is good but not that good, he will probably retire from root now. i just cant understand why anyone would trust major after all what was said on unfiltered and what we generally know of his whining
