If you don't think that's a recipe for dead SC2 careers, I think you're being absurdly optimistic. What pissed me more is that he was so desperate that he had to contact a team like root. Seriously, this guy is one of the best terran in the world since 2010. There is almost no terran from 2010 that are still relevent beside him. He's been without a team for half a year. I don't get how team leaders aren't interested in him. If I was manager of a big team, he would be on the top of my list for potentiall recruitment. I agree that SuNo is super underrated but looking at the player market in Korea it isn't surprising to me that he decided on ROOT over some smaller/sketchier sponsor/team. SuNo isn't going to get picked up by a KeSPA because he has military very close. ESF is not around anymore, ST is the only valid option but they aren't really in a situation to be giving out contracts. I don't think many foreign teams were clamoring for his contract since he is a relatively unpopular player in the foreign scene because he doesn't get out of Korea much. I also think he wanted to stay in Korea (travel once in a while not stay overseas like MC), otherwise he definitely would've had more chances or tried his hand at MC's house. Looking at how the WCS America CHAMPION (Pigbaby) is currently teamless. As well as Dear (WCS 2013 Season 3 Champion). As well as viOLet and legends like Mvp and Nestea. I guess hard region lock fanatics got their wish, slow death of Korean Sc2.

Cool to see Supernova back on Root again.

First of all nobody from KeSPA or KR scene counting NA tourney as a big win (NA too easy (c)Solar) so Pigbaby isnt counting at all (Protoss player /facepalm) Sicne Dear left mousesports I did not even heard about him,viOlet lives study in America what would be the point of him looking for KeSPA team? MVP = Wrist problems which rly affect his gameplay,NesTea (31 years old guy HELLO? give space for youger guys from B teams..) Its not about region lock its simply Koreans who went to NA simply lost their KR beast level (I mean look on Sacsri 1st big win at his 1st big tourney?) It is about that new players should be introduced on stages, but I love how community is love to live in past seeing still same same same same same names for years... anyway all u said there is bunch of nonsence !
If SNova has a Millitary service soon no wonder that even Liquid or other big teams not contacted him it was same for golden etc. Sadly I don't what ROOT promised to SNova since even ViBE lost his passion of being in root because of almost no support and pay checks for tourneys (they were both rising money with livibee...) Overall great pickup, but I hope you did not promised him bunch of bullshit and SNova wont end like Hyun

Supernova doesn't add anything to the team. There's a reason why he wasn't picked up by other teams. He's a very good player, but he's not a championship level player. He generally just does his thing by himself, and he'll go to the military soon. He'd be okay on a kespa team who is looking for a solid player in PL but otherwise it seems like a waste of money to get a player like him.
You can't recoup value by what he wins in tournaments/how he performs. Nobody remembers the guy who finishes ro32 in WCS, outside of "oh that guy's consistently code s, congrats to him!" I doubt Root is paying him big money, but it does seem like a random pickup. I doubt he'd move to the Root house. Maybe they'll send him to a few international events which would be cool, but ultimately if he doesn't win then the value doesn't get returned to the team.

I think he has pretty good chances of winning a lot of foreign events. He is probably the 3rd strongest player on a foreign team after Innovation and Taeja. And postpatch, his market value should increase as well.

They have zero financial sponsors and they don't exactly "put" their players out their when you compare them to EG or Liquid. Expect a "fundraiser" drive within the next few months for next years rent/bills.
Then what did SuNo have to gain by joining at all?

Ironically, Root should the most stable of his history of teams.

Great pickup, one of the korean players thats been here since the very start of sc2

The same thing they gained when they signed Yugioh or Sage or the countless other players they have on their team, nothing.

I'm sorry for being negative, but gimme all he recieved is stream overlay :D... Gimme one day free and I will make the same and I can say I hire SuperNova to Team Phara o.o/ deal?
Like he will move ot US house? Will they pay his tickets to tourneys? (Highly doubt bout that since the gaming house must eat alot of money).. So yea I would like to see a model for player like SuNo from CatZ (no offense bro I like your stream and such but I wanna see some profit for the player and by profit i mean more than clantag (which nobody from root has anymore))

Since I'm assuming SuperNova is not actually leaving Korea, I'm hoping he is able to get a partnership with the new MVP team for playing in SPL like HerO and Seed are. He'd make the team much better and already has some ties with Symbol and Center from their days on AZUBU.
