Just because it is small? This has up- and downsides for every race.

Maybe this person wasn't around in 2010.
The map is so small that you siege your tanks 2 times and you are at the opponents base.
Or I guess you could put 5 or 6 widow mines in a line and cover the middle of the map in its entirety? I havent tested it but it may be the case.

As for Metalopolis, the exposed nature of the natural will make vZ openings very difficult to do safely. Might be possible for sure, but I don't see them adding flavour to the map pool, more being bad maps for this era of SC

Man so many people hating on the old maps..do you really think that Blizzard didn't want some of those maps to end up in the pool? I guarantee you that is exactly what they wanted; that way they can use the wide variety of different maps to gather data on what they can and can't do for the next "serious" season. This is obviously supposed to be a fun thing that we aren't supposed to take too seriously, so all you tryhards need to calm down a little bit and enjoy this for what it is..a season and goofing off and trolling.

Yeah it's real fucking fun to return to the game after a three month RL-induced hiatus to play on Steppes of War. I'm such a tryharding asshole I know...

Guys...this is your chance. #mechdreampool akilon wastes, shakuras, shattered temple, steppes of war, daybreak...these maps are all really good split maps and maps where Mech is slightly more viable than on other maps.
Let's Mech it Happen™ guys come on steppes of war you must vote for for the hilarity factor. We all know it's not balanced at all, and epicly fun and hilarious and rage inducing games will occur on it for all involved lol
This next season's map pool should be "interesting."

You're thinking wrongly. Xel'Naga Caverns is badass for Terrans because Planetary at the gold, siege tanks, and widowmines become "I win. I win so much."
Steppes of War simply because we can't vote incineration zone.
None of the really insane beta pool maps seem to be available. (I mean, the really messed up ones.)

That is astoundingly awesome. But can you get up to swarmhosts before the one base terran or protoss is killing you?

That's one more good reason for Steppes of War. It will be so much fun!

I would personally love to see some pro games on the upcoming map pool, whatever it ends up being. It will give us a chance to see what happens when you put old, crazy maps into the current meta. It could also give us a chance to revisit the daedalus point experiment that (im my opinion) got cut tragically short

I'm all for a LoTV that has Protoss less reliant in chokes to defend expansions, but as it stands that is how Protoss works. PvZ was so ridiculous on that map

Tested it: swarm hosts on steppes of war with enduring locusts and creep can get from the top of your main ramp to the natural of your opponent. You can easily do natural to natural.
They make it just shy of the base of the opponent main's ramp.

One-base turtle into swarmhost under complete cover... oh boy

Taking the game "seriously" is what I DO find fun, perfecting my macro/optimizing by builds etc. Goofing around/trolling is not something I find enjoyable in sc2, if I'm in that mood I'd just play some other game.

They make it just shy of the base of the opponent main's ramp. Is that with creep spread the whole way over?
