Regardless, maps are pretty much the only deciding factor on whether to go Mech or not. Last week I played a TvZ on Akilon (never really played mech before) at the low masters level, and I still won despite making up my build order on the fly. It's disgustingly easy to camp just ONE area which protects 4 easy bases, spread out siege tanks a bit, position thors appropriately, make a ton of turrets and orbitals, then mass the raven/viking ball for the win. I honestly have to say ForGG played unnecessarily aggressive in game 3; he had HUGE leads at points in the game, but he always overextended and small mech forces were cleaned up by roach/ling/hydra, which should almost NEVER happen.

No one in his right mind will ever go aggro while playing mech, unless: he can afford a loss/desperate situation (lol mind games)/god damn god-like top first unit control(situation awareness). All in all, mech, as it is right now (played correctly) isn't meant to be played aggressively, or go FullNA against any opponent. I dare to say that, mech is pretty much a sure win in every MU if employed correctly(even in TvP lol, barely). But you don't know that ofc. Wonder why. Big question to you, why there are no koreans playing mech (disregard the once in a century attempts successful attempts or not). The answer is quite simple. Patience.

TIL ForGG isn't Korean, isn't in his right mind, and you are have better knowledge of how to play mech than progamers.

It's a little bit frustrating that we don't get this sort of analysis during the games themselves. Obviously the casters were caught off guard by ForGG's play and they didn't have the luxury of repeat viewings, but it feels like the gap between TheDwf's analysis and what we got live is just insurmountably vast. Hopefully this series revived Artosis's passion enough to figure out all the mech vs Zerg intricacies in time for this season. Vikings sniped overseers and Banshees then reked everything else. Or is this a less important part of what he did in comparison to economy management? I agree, this struck me immediately during the game and made me wonder if this is something that other Terrans will now be able to replicate. In early HOTS, mech was only used for all-ins/high pressure builds. Then came mech vs. SH, a macro style with spurts of brilliance (especially any time Vikings/Banshees/Infestors got involved). ForGG vs Life seemed to be a refined version of that style, with more Vikings for Terran allowing more dynamic Banshee play, and a lot less reliance on SH for the Zerg. I'm still not sure if this game was a magical fluke, or really is the future of mech vs Zerg. I really hope it wasn't a fluke.

But there are also some scenes that really hurt. I hope this doesn´t count as balance whine. The moment on King Sejong Station @ about 1:38:24 in the video where 6 (!) Thors get destroyed (while having done almost no damage) by about 20 or more Mutas is hard to watch. This is just not right.

Also SuperNova, Flash, Gumiho, Bbyong, etc. Aren't korean. Yeah maps play a big role in mech, I've seen that maps that have clearly market attack paths with high ground are really good for mech, for example is very easy to attack the forward 4th on KSS and set up an offensive siege towards the 3rd other 4th, same thing in Catallena, if you can take a good position in yout attack path you can attack mamy bases at once (like ForGG did with his tanks)
