By villainous run I mean a performance where an unpopular, faceless player defeats many fan favourites en route to a tournament victory.
Examples of such runs:
aLive in IPL 4
aLive, a player nobody cared about at the time, defeated PartinG, Polt, MarineKing, and NesTea on his way to winning a lot of money in this tournament. The winning ceremony was very awkward because none of the casters or audience expected or even wanted him to win.
Sniper in 2012 GSL Season 5
Sniper, a player most believed to be a less exciting version of his teammate DongRaeGu at the time, destroyed fan favourites such as PartinG, Polt, Leenock, Ryung, and HyuN to win the GSL. This was notable because it was in the middle of the "patch zerg era" where Ryung wrote "IMBA IMBA IMBA IMBA IMBA IMBA" in the chat before leaving the game in the semi-finals.
What other tournament runs do you believe to be extremely villainous? Who is the greatest SC2 super-villain of all time?

Any Zerg performance save for when Zerg is underpowered seems evil to me. I just hate Zerg that much. I can still acknowledge skill though, when the state of balance makes it really obvious.

sOs is probably pretty high on this list for most people. Not only did he deny Bomber (THE TERRAN) a world championship, he beat out Jaedong (one of the biggest fan favorites at the time, perhaps bar none), prevented Dear from taking home the impossible Triple Royal Road, and just did it all in highly infuriating fashion. Some people loved him for his play, but a metric ton despised him for that run.

I'll go with Sniper.

Zest, for being a buff toss with a smug aura who beat the true GSL champion SoO in boring, predictable fashion. : /

Sniper is obviously #1. Don't think I need to elaborate on that.
It's interesting to talk about everyone else though. I'm going to say RorO is #2.
Killed Mvp Killed Commander Keen Killed Life (Zealously remembers) Killed MC (last toss of the season) Killed Taeja (last terran of the season to prevent ZvZ finals) Killed Symbol (a guy who continuously made it deep but could never claim any titles)
Bonus villainy for inflaming the Kespa vs eSF war on these forums and sullying the final WoL championship. He would go on to never win anything again, which is also kind of aggravating.
Even before that he was kind of a bastard. Knocked out a lot of cool players in the 2012 Korean WCS.

Sniper. He is the least deserving and most disliked champion.

Who can beat this ?
|
For the longest time MVP was my villain beating MarineKing in all those finals. Denying the SlayerS reign at MLG beating both BoxeR and then the son of BoxeR. Also IdrA when he came back and beat BoxeR in that one MLG.

scarlett and her first run at IPL.
the shak or sjak guy who beat MC and other koreans during the imba toss era (which goes to show how much u really remember about the players when they are "one hit wonders").
Roro and the last gsl during lings of liberty.
jjakji (when he beat leenock) in GSL. looking back at how he qualified to code S and how lucky he got multiple times during the group stages and also beating a prime Leenock.
and i guess whenever idra entered in a tournament.

While it wasn't a run per se, Snute vs herO was disgusting to watch. Sc2 is not supposed to be a game of patience where you rally locusts and play tower defense with static defense while your opponent has to do all the hard work and constantly look for openings that don't exist.

Sniper GSL followed by his match vs Slayers in GSTL

He still played pretty well and it's not like he created the game design. Also his GSL final was definitely one of the better ones and was actually pretty exciting

Dude, Stephano at LSC3 xD
Should've just retired as a hero. Now he's a villain.

Classic, defeating Maru and soO, in the middle of protoss era, only to fall off to the bottom just after.

I guess Sniper is more objectively evil, but I just can't get over alive in that IPL. Ending Squirtle's incredible run in that manner is the most evil thing I've yet to see

Trap @ MLG Anaheim Beat Keen, who had his first good run in a while. Beat Hyun, one of the more popular Koreans. Beat Scarlett, quite possibly the most popular player left in the tournament. Beat Violet, who looked ready to win a championship for the first time in years. Beat Polt, the "American" hero. Being Protoss doesn't help much, either.

She looked like she could actually win the whole thing and got all our hopes up, then threw against Trap so hard baseball players jealous.
