Not even that often in games that go past 20-30 minutes. In WoL, every single game was broodlord infestor and it was either kill them before or you lose. That's the only reason why games didn't last 2 hours, because if it got past 30 minutes the zerg player always won while now it's much more balanced at least.
Still, if you ask people about why they stopped watching SC2, many of them will state Swarm Host as one reason. I might be biased due to being a zerg player, but I didn't experience the Broodlord Infestor phase to be as bad as Swarm Host games now. We also didn't have these ridiculous ZvT Mech situations.
I think that while games have never been better, thats mostly due to overall increase of skill. HotS definitely brought some fun elements, such as the Viper, but it also brought a lot of frustrating stuff.

Dreamhack Winter not having SC2 is probably because the LotV timeline impacts it heavily. If LotV is out by that time I imagine we will be seeing SC2 there on top of the announced stops. I don't recall Bucharest as having that much hype, and London is a new location that has GFinity already being active in SC2. GFinity has qualifiers and work with players and teams with regards to flights and hotels and they deserve a lot of praise for that. That tournament is looking stacked.
SUMMER PLS.
p.s. DH Open is a brand of Dreamhack that doesn't include Dota. They have Dreamleague for that which is a standalone brand. DH Open is the brand they like to travel the circuit with.
Except unlike Gfinity, Dreamhack is a premier tournament. That means it should be in London. London needs a premier tournament.

I think the very worst Swarmhost games tend to stick in the memory for a long time and give out a false impression of their prevalence, especially at the very very top level. BL/Infestor was literally almost every game in WoL vT and vP.
Also I thought the herO vs Rogue game from the other day was pretty interesting and exciting

well that really sucks. Dreamhacks were the most fun to watch for me because they fit my timezone most of the time.
good bye SC2, maybe the next addon can save you because DH wont.

We're seeing the exact same composition in every ZvT as well (if T is not doing some weird kind of Mech thing) yet people consider it the most fun thing to watch.
I don't think it's the frequency of a style that makes it worse/better, it's whether or not it's fun to watch. And I think I speak for the majority when I say that watching Swarm Host games is a chore.
But anyway, that's way off topic now. Sorry for that. I just wanted to throw in the point that it's not a universally accepted fact that HotS is the better game and games are better across the board.

No dreamhack summer or winter?????? T_T
|
LotV please.
Not having DH winter is ridiculous imo. I mean, I don't remember the viewerships for former dreamhacks, but didn't the last one have 60k at least? I remember IEMs constantly having 80-110k viewers in 2013, but 60k is really not that bad... I don't think the reason to drop it was SC2 doing as badly as it is right now, but more like other games doing better (obviously), so I don't really understand the ded gaem talk here either.
LotV is going to put Starcraft right back up where it belongs.

Weow, too bad. I won't need to plan going to DH Summer then I guess.

I want Ohlen to prove through Gfinity's growth that this is a terrible move.

No SC2 at Dreamhack Winter is fricken brutal. What tournament will HerO collect his paycheck from now!?
...But actually, I'm really disappointed. That sucks. At least we still have Stockholm.

I honestly think BL Infestor was way worse being able to correctly predict every fricken zerg matchup (in terms of builds, if not results) was terrible. Of course, there were exceptions (Leenock continued to favor Mutas and that made his games FANTASTIC. Life stuck on lings for longer than most which was fun to watch). But on the whole, so many fricken Broodlord games, by the end even in ZvZ.

Hell, the last WoL GSL final was a ZvZ and was the one with the lowest viewers and the less post in the thread in the story of WoL, it just got so boring.

This really isn't so bad, It's three more premier tournaments than I thought we were going to get. No DH winter sucks but it sounds like if LOTV is out by DH:W we'll have our tournament.
|
so basically dh is cutting down on sc2 in two new locations and removing it from jonkoping? this seems kinda odd... i dont see any other events that's listed but will we see dh hosting league, dota2, and (god forbid) minecraft?

Argh, I really am not so fussed about the additional stops on the tour, but no SC2 at Winter or Summer just seems wrong
