In unusually timely fashion, it has been announced that the WCS Premier Season 2 2015 finals will take place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada from June 26th to the 28th and the Metro Toronto Convention Center, the same location as IEM Toronto last year.
Somehow no one made a thread for this yesterday, so I dun did it.
Also, I'd just like to note that Toronto getting another tournament is kind of infuriating, since, in fact, there is more than one city in this country and I'd prefer they didn't pick one 4000km away from me again.

Maybe we could launch the Lost Countryside StarLeague, and have events in the middle of Canada

Montreal pls ;;
Montreal and Vancouver would be the likely candidates, I hope they choose one of those two at least one time, share the e-sports love.
I think I'll actually go to this one despite not following starcraft in a while, since nobody ever seems to care that Vancouver also has just as large of an esports culture, as well as being more skilled than Toronto.

Highly highly doubt they will put season 3 in Cali, especially since they will be having Blizzcon there a few weeks later. I'm thinking somewhere in China as a likely venue for WCS season 3.

Montreal's getting ESWC CS:GO finals AND has Lan ETS every year! Besides, Toronto has our own locals almost every other month so it's easy to justify coming since the crowd is established already

Is this going to happen with FanExpo again? I didn't go to IEM due to the FanExpo crowds. I did attend when they did the S2 global finals here or whatever. Also, down for a TL meetup!

No, FanExpo is in September this year. Pretty sure this is a standalone event.

Two of the best tournaments of the entire sc2 history were held there (WCS S3 Finals and IEM Toronto). I'm so hyped!
WCS 2013 S3 Finals was in the Congress Centre, a completely different venue on the outskirts of Toronto.

Speaking of which, LotV needs LAN, something nobody has been requesting. I guess "the technology isn't there yet"

let's meet up
TL meet up sounds great.
with any luck i'll not end up in the hospital
yeah "Hospital", more like in a sketchy cab needing old jakethesnake to save your ass. lol.
I'm super excited that we are getting another event up here in Canada. I need to make it for sure!

I feel so spoiled by that S3 weekend whenever I think about it. Just one stage, never missed a moment. It didn't hit me just how special it was until right after at Blizzcon that year when you realize the crowd is missing Maru/Duckdeok while watching Dear/Jaedong. It's a damn tough choice, but wouldn't you rather just not have to make it? I feel like I'll never experience a weekend tournament quite like that again.
There really should be more then 2mo warning on a event of this "caliber" plane tickets are best booked 3mo in advance and other game promoters give 6months + for an event at this level.
Did anyone else felt like they were trying to make up for the late announcement for S1 by pushing this in our faces haha? Regardless, I will not complain, the crowds there have been amazing, I hope they take upon themselves the challenge to be louder than the French crowd, because those guys were flowing over with passion!

IEM Toronto had really early finishes, hope for the same
Difference with IEM is that it is usually at gaming/computer conventions, no? And as such, it usually starts at 10 am or something similar. While WCS usually starts at 4pm or later. So I do think what JoeCool said is true.

They were FanExpo Tickets, no idea how ESL prices their things. But if it's based Silva at the helm then it'll be similar to 2013 with 30$ weekend, 60$ premium. However the MTCC is much more expensive so no idea.
I'm pumped for this, for other Canadians complaining, I doubt WCS would ever come to Montreal. It just doesn't seem that viable an option. Whereas with Toronto or Vancouver you're so close to the U.S. and there's lots of uni students that love esports.

Toronto is the safe choice. and the event has the potential to be really good. the Metro Toronto Convention Center is a very good place for an event this big.
That said, for a 1-off party style event Montreal is better than Toronto. Montrealers and those in the surrounding suburbs are far more experimental than people in Toronto, Mississauga, Oshawa.. etc.
Montreal earned itself a big event when stuff like this happened there...
its a cryin' shame Toronto has gotten several big events and Montreal none

FanExpo was expensive compared to the WCS season finals at the Congress Center. It cost me I think $40 for Sunday alone for IEM Toronto, so if you combined Friday and Saturday it came to over $100 if I recall. WCS season finals were $30 for three days if you took the normal ticket package, so I hope IEM prices appropriately now that it's not tied to another event.
For anyone planning to attend, I built a tool to help keep track of who you want to meet, as well as sharing contact details about them: https://sc2ctl.com/meetup/help
Gee I did not anticipate the tickets to sell out in about a week, at least I got my tickets as soon as they announced them. Then again the tickets were priced very well at $25 for three days so people could snap them up at a good price. Hope they open up more spots eventually there are a lot of StarCraft fans in Canada or the US who really love the Canadian atmosphere.
there was ample complaining about Toronto once again being the city of choice for a Canadian offline live event. However, the fast sellout only makes it harder for the marketing gods to ever take a chance and go to a place like Montreal or Vancouver.
Dah missed the tickets. For the other events I don't remember them selling out so fast. In fact my brother got a 1 day ticket like the day before iirc.

So I have decided fairly last minute that I am going to go to this, however I'd like to share a room with someone if that is at all possible to save on cost. Is there anyone going who's staying at the strathcona hotel who needs a roommate for the weekend?
