Is that article true? If so it seems horrible. I have saved a bunch of my favorite replays. Will their be any way to view them in the future?
Old replays won't be supported!?!

And this crap patch. I'm thinking about not buying LotV and stick with what I have, just return my 2.5 w/e patch.

Really sick of all this "Community Feedback" that people beg the devs to listen to. Seriously, what % of users would even watch an old replay? one that there's no VOD of?

Just use your brain and imagine that you played this game for 5 years and accumulated over 9000 replays, memories, best games, epic cheeses, strats, even official WCS replays and imagine that all this data got erased? This is not something understandable, we played this game so many years and we deserve our joyful memories. And VOD is only to watch, you can't study which hotkeys player used. If Blizz wants to go this way rename it into SC 3 then. What's the point of keeping WoL & HotS then in menu for expansion switch when like you said "old", so let's not even play then old things.

Blizzard knows that this sucks, and now that they still made the decision, asking them to still add back support for old reps is just beating a dead horse in my opinion. I too am very sad and disappointed that this happened. We all just have to deal with it. But I'm sure that more good will come out of it. And I'm also sure that this won't happen again. But don't just throw away your old replays immediately, there are some tools (e.g. my Scelight) that will support all old replays back to genesis, that is the launch of WoL (July 27, 2105), including even beta replays. Yes, Scelight might not be able to play your old replays, but will be able to show you an incredible amount of details both on single replay level and on multi-replay level (statistics gained from multiple replays). And by the way these are the official sources (the first official post appeared in April 10, 2015, exactly 6 months ago): Upcoming Replay Changes (9/30/2015) Patch 3.0 for Heart of the Swarm is just around the corner and we wanted to remind everyone that replays made before this patch will no longer be supported once it goes live. Replays that are newly created in Patch 3.0 and onwards will be supported in future versions of the game. We’re bringing lots of exciting changes including a revamped user interface and chat system with this next patch and we’re looking forward to sharing more details very soon... Legacy of the Void - Replay Support (4/10/2015) Recognizing that sharing, examining and reviewing replays is a central experience to StarCraft II, we wanted to raise community awareness with the following announcement: With the release of Heart of the Swarm Patch 3.0, replay playback from earlier versions of the game will no longer be supported. However newly recorded replays will be supported in future versions of the game. While we cannot provide a specific date for this patch, we wanted to share visibility into this functionality change. We will provide additional reminders once this patch date grows nearer.

Even though I fully acknowledge your pain, I have no doubt in my mind that Blizz is doing it for the right reasons; however internal they may be. So we just had multiple versions of Warcraft on our computers to watch different replays.

Will they just stop working when not connected to b.net for some time? In theory you should be able to keep the version and work it in an off-line mode(kill access to the internet via firewall settings). I am not sure whether you need at least 1 successful login to use the off-line mode.
