That's a surprising set of Korean invites, but I suppose I can dig it. Neither ForGG nor Life going is a shame though, I thought they would invite at least one of last year's finalists.
|
|
Solar's probably gonna take this, wouldn't be surprised to see him against TY again in the finals.

Yeah I am also a bit surprised, but Solar is a DH regular Champion now and the best LotV zerg. Parting is always good to have and maybe the strongest P in LotV. TY and Bomber also showed good games at Shoutcraft and should be way stronger at DH Winter.
Life would've been great though. I guess we have to wait for GSL/SSL until we see him perform.

No JD is surprising to me, usually he is the first who gets any kind of invite. TY makes me wanna watch the tournament though.

That's about what they said before MLG Winter Championship in March 2013.

Yeah, I suppose I thought invites would be based less on LotV than they actually seem to be I was quite scared seeing that there are only a few Koreans as invites ... but they really chose the best ones, which is amazing - the only few Koreans, who obviously did practice LotV a lot and are good in it ... I would be happy to see e.g. JD or Flash there, but looking at them in China now, Flash is first learning, what is LotV about and JD is somehow taking it too relaxed ... would be nice seeing Life and sOs there, but nobody knows, whether they know anything at all about LotV ... But having Solar, PartinG, TY there ... these are practically the best ones out there. Great choice!!!!!

It is sad seeing Dreamhacks without Taeja and Hero
|
TLO vs Lilbow should be an interesting match to say the least!

This is gonna be super. Group D is really nice. My guess is that Parting just takes this easily, but maybe just maybe, Nerchio has something to say about that!!

To be fair the Korean lineup was much much stronger + 17 Koreans vs 15 Foreigners + no group stage
Here we could easily see an upset, Bomber is old, Parting seems not to be as good and TY never had an insane breakout.
Bomber and TY could very well be out in groupe stage (not likely but they could), Solar seems to have this pretty much in the bag though

Is this the actual Dreamhack tournament? Since when do they show the sponsor name? I dont remember ever seeing something like Dreamhack Redbull, etc.

I imagine Roccat have put more money into the tournament than other sponsors have in the past. Same contrast as between title sponsors (Jin Air Green Wings) vs 'ordinary' sponsors (Monster for EG, etc) for teams.

Well HuK+MC has been kicking ass at LotV archon mode

That's a logical standpoint. Just not sure what to think of it, I'm almost positive that there were other sponsors in the past fueling tons of money into the sport, without being a title sponsor. I wonder if this was something the dreamhack execs proposed due to the lack of funding for starcraft, or if Roccat came to them.

The Korean invites are pretty good, the line-up looks a tad disappointing, but that's what happens when you do qualifiers during beta I suppose.

Yeah I think sponsors like Monster and Intel sponsor all of DH and the money gets spread out for all tournaments and the whole production etc., while Roccat chose to put their money specifically into the LotV tournament. So each tournament can in theory have a main sponsor I guess. The CS:GO tournamant is also called FACEIT CS:GO League.

It's actually not the first time this has happened, I think it's just exactly as it seems. SAPPHIRE AMD sponsored all of 2011's Dreamhacks, as I recall. They were even called SAPPHIRE Dreamhack, or something of the sort.
Edit: Oh, and let's not forget Dreamhack EIZO Open, which spanned all of 2012.
|
But more important than Dreamhack - does anyone have an idea about IEM? Their series continues, but somehow, they do not include Starcraft 2 into it ... what happened? Is this the end of SC2 at IEMs? Will we have enough tournaments?
|
btw , Shourcraft was a great experiment ... mixing some of the best players of HotS with some really good players, who spet a lot of time with LotV ... it showed, the stars from HotS have no idea ... so it is great, they invite here the best LotV players ...

Tho the games aren't always the best I guess (like that finals vs TY), but thats not his fault I wouldn't say =P

Can't wait to see Lilbow's performance. We will see whether it was worth to give up blizzcon or not

Can someone explain me why is Avokado invited? There was few players more sucessful in qualifiers then him.

Congratulations to Solar for cashing in his 20k.
no byun no fun

This isn't that surprising, I don't think they would have waited until after Shoutcraft if they weren't going to use it as a basis for invites.
And maybe Byun declined?

Gosh darn school. Serral TT
Well hopefully will see some nice games out of the Koreans at least.
|
Solar is gonna smash all these fools.

TY keeps showing up everywhere. I like it a lot. Time for revenge, Solar!
(Though I'm quite certain Solar will win this tournament, too.)

I smell Round of 4 only Korean players.

dis 4 man tournament hopefully we get a parting vs solar match during this

I too look forward to the second coming of DreamHuK

Say what you will but it's a brand new game, we might actually get some neat games out of Groups A and D. Group B though... At least it's got Solar. Plus I mean, I suppose they'll be entertaining because either way it is LOTV

I'll really enjoy when there are foreigners in the Top 4 and everyone calls it the Koreans playing poorly instead of the foreigners playing well.

Eh if Koreans can't crack the semis then the competition sucks anyway. I'll gladly watch Koreans experiment against each other because that still feeds into rivalries and shit, but watching Solar get bopped by a foreigner he'll play against one more time in his entire career is not an efficient use of my time.

I guess that's true hey? Right now I'm incredibly skeptic that he'll even make it past the quartifinals, but he has one hell of an opportunity to shut up the haters such as myself here. It'd be cool to see him make good on that opportunity. For the time-being however I'm just rooting for HuK, Parting, TLO and Bunny.

While this might be true, it's completely irrelevant since nobody will remember this DH anyways plus in two months the koreans will be on top again.

If a foreigner wins this event than for sure people will remember, however if the top 4 is dominated by the Koreans than this will go down in history as just another LotV dreamhack.
