I think Blizzard needs to open up the automated tournament system to trusted casters. I once played in a tournament that was cast and the feedback I was able to get from unbiased, outside people was tremendous.
the downsides I can see to this. 1.Possible observer cheating if a caster is working with a player 2.some people don't want to be cast.. 3.it might be hard to find casters on a consistent basis.
the upsides I can see from this. 1.players get a lot of good feedback from neutral sources. 2.some people would like their games cast. 3.it would give casters (new and established) a chance to get some experience on a stable basis
I really hope blizzard is exploring this option for the future. I don't think any other game has the platform to implement it. Blizzard would need to establish rules as far as who can cast games in the tournaments and give them access. If cheating is suspected Blizzard would have to act fast to review any accusations. I think this would help to strengthen the casual player base as I think most people consider it kind of cool to have a game cast.
I really wish Blizzard would allow outside people to host their own tournaments, with user created rounds and rules, as well as observing and casting permissions. I feel it's a good step to implement a system first and then allow it to be customized.

Who would want to watch a random tournament tho of no significance?

Our mothers of course!

Who would want to watch a random tournament tho of no significance? the players would watch. It's not about the viewers exactly and more about the experience gained by casters and the feedback gained by the players. Twitch offers a vod feature where the players could watch their games. This is all a practice setting and not so much a drive for money and fame setting.

This is a cool idea, I really hope blizzard continues to develop the automated tournament system. I would really like for the option to spectate tournaments so if you get eliminated you can keep watching to see how the guy who beat you did.

There are already a ton of small online tournament that would be dying for people to cast / watch them.

Yeah I think there are many more deserving small tournaments with small prize pools with some damn good players in them that never get spotlight because they're not casted.

These small tournaments aren't exactly making it obvious casting is wanted. Why isn't there a searching for casters thread then? I'd be more then happy to cast a few of these that align with my schedule and doesn't conflict with the Afreeca Vant Starleague I'm paid to cast. :D I even have a CoCaster.

No please no. Impossible to make sure the casters are unbiased. Also the players could watch the stream.

Well into the french scenes there's some at least ( but as you could guess since those are not widely casted the skill level is anywhere between low dia to GM ) There's the restart cup (which has already more than 60 editions ), the UG weekly tournament, the tournaments organized by romandy gaming, chronos tournaments , AddicT gaming tournaments, B&J gaming ( more than 90 tournaments ), pandaria ( season 14 ) .
Big LANs also lacks english coverage ( HF LAN, GA, InsaLan, PxL, MaxLan... you name it ).

Japanese tournament, no english caster.
Its mainly local tournaments that's don't have enough coverage ( and its normal ), if you're from germany i'm sure there's ton of subtop small german online tournament too.
They are pretty much the same thing you'll get with blizzard thing expect that those try to be a bit more entertaining ;o

I would love a feature to allow for casting from ingame because I haven't had internet capable of doing it via twitch for years and I miss casting things >.<

I even wrote that I'm still searching for casters but no feedback so far... A searching for caster thread is not allowed on TL:

There was also DuSt team league where only ~1 match got casted per week, where pretty much all of the top NA teams competed.
There's also SEA cups that GM players compete in. As well as some Canadian LAN (that happens twice a year?) in the Winnepeg area (I believe) that has some good people in it.

It'd be a good idea if automated tournaments actually lasted a good amount of time + more players + less downtime in between games. Right now the player pools are too small, and too Random to be of any significance, I think cheating is the last thing to worry about since there are no prizes.
