I think the major issue is that Byun doesn't know that douyu believes they has overpaid parting, they overestimate the viewership brought by parting. So they are not likely to give a generous contract to byun.
The other issue is that byun doesn't understand the reason Douyu is willing to offer him a contract is he is a member of XTeam. Nobody will watch his stream if he is not a XTeam member. Maybe byun believes that he is popular because he has won many games, but it is not. As an outsider to the Chinese scene, he may not notice the popularity of xteam in China.

He lost in Code A around the same time and the player field in SSL was pretty weak. That top 6 in SSL doesn't really say much. RagnaroK and Patience were up there, too.
His online performance is still pretty solid though.

Why does Byun hate proleague? Looking at the comments on this page(http://gall.dcinside.com/board/view/?id=starcraft_new&no=4435222&page=1&recommend=1) gives me the impression that he doesn't mind proleague but there's a problem with 오퍼. I don't knwo what that means tho.

And that was in response to him being classified as top 3 player/ucomming talent.
I probably rate him between 8-15, and I don't think he will get better.

SSL S1 was a joke of a competition really due to the qualifying system. ByuN's run was 2-0 soO, 1-3 RagnaroK, 2-1 Hurricane, 3-0 aLive, 2-3 Stats
The win over aLive and the loss to Stats are the only notable results there. aLive's TvT looks weak, although ByuN did play pretty well iirc, while Stats bossed their match and should have won much more convincingly.
Dark and Stats are the only 2 players who emerged from the season with any real credit

The fact is what Douyu TV thinks: X-Team.ByuN : Good, we'd like to contact him. ByuN : Who's that?
Douyu prepared the contract only because at that time he was a X-Team member. Once he leaves X-Team, ByuN means nothing to Douyu.

I really feel sorry for ByuN, after reading his translated statement and before the one sided explanation of X-team. He did not like the condition "You must be the member of X-team and for this, you will have no salary, but you can stream and you will receive money for streaming". That kind of deal looks weird and it definitely is not in line with what X team claims to have done. Also the problems with the translation of contract, it seems completely understandable that he did not like the situation.
The real problem is that he did not know, that the conditions of PartinG were very special and that Doyu learned that what they have done for PartinG was not economically viable for another player from their side, so they did not offer the same conditions to ByuN. If they explained that to ByuN, he would probably understand that, but this way, he just felt as a misused player, who has been offered much worse conditions that the standard was.
If there was some kind of communication between the parties, honesty with explanations and trying to understand the other side, they could have found a solution. But it seems more like being a fight than trying to find a solution.
Well, what can be done? Now, X-team will lose all their matches and ByuN will be unemployed. I still see that as a better solution than being in a business relationship that both parties consider as disadvantageous and where they would be dissatisfied with the deal.
I just wish, CJ would actually consider not to disband their SC2 team and in addition to the retiring MC for one season would consider hiring a great Terran as a replacement for Bbyong at least for the whole 2017.

Is there a source of them saying they're considering disbanding?

Is there a source of them saying they're considering disbanding? No. That is only what I think taking into account what has happened this year. They played the whole season 2 with insufficient number of players and did not hire even some newbie player as a replacement. The fact that they have hired MC now looks great, but I am afraid, it is only for the third season until end of 2016, which is a good deal for MC, it also wins a lot of fans for CJ, but it still gives them the possibility to terminate that at the end of the year. If they hired ByuN, a player, who does not intend to retire after the season, that would be a sign for me, that they might keep the team.

Why would they bother hiring MC if they were going to disband at end of year?
I think you're reaching here.

I think you're reaching here. A great deal for one season. Great for MC, great for CJ. MC postpones his retirement by a few months, CJ finish this year's competition with a reasonable number of players and much higher popularity.

Reposting from the earlier closed thread:
xiaose's story on the contract issues:
1) it is douyu's idea to have the contract mandating him staying on X-Team, to them XT.Byun is valuable, whateverelse.Byun is not.
2) it seems there is a communication issue between Byun, XTeam and Douyu, not sure if it is the translator's fault, Byun's initial requested figure isn't far from acceptable numbers, but the number Douyu received end up being double the figure for whatever reason.
My personal take on the entire thing base on what I know:
It isn't necessarily either XTeam (xiaose and F91) or Byun's fault. To X-Team, after the success of bringing Byun on board, naturally you want to extend the partnership, while also provide the player compensation with their ties to douyu. Again, for douyu only XT.Byun is valuable, whateverelse.Byun is not, so asking/requiring Byun to stay on XTeam is what they want, is that reasonable? Yes. Can Byun turn that down? Of course he has the rightful reason to because that is not the norm.
While on Byun's side, he just went through some tough years of his career, now that he suddenly became one of the most popular Korean players in the Chinese scene, him wanting some paygrade to match his reputation is not a far stretch. And as a teamless player, money could be an issue.
Problem is, either from poor communication caused by language barrier, or culture differences, both parties have different expectations towards each other. XTeam out of good will, thinks he might return the favor, Byun out of his good skill and results, expected bigger fame and fortune. When things doesn't match, friction happens.

Okay, all these fine details aside, lets look at the big picture. ByuN is a top tier player who joined X-Team as a result of his massive online contributions w/ the Chinese scene. Great. Nobody expected it to last forever, at least I didn't. Pay the man or watch him walk. And that's what happened. Now that ByuN's breaking out of his shell so to speak, he knows he can get more money elsewhere. I guarantee he'll be on a kespa team in time for round 3 PL. He may say he hates proleague but nobody believes somebody who says they hate money.

Kespa Team.... What are you waiting for?!?! get him into proleague... His ghost snipes are just Sick =D

Teamliquid should pick him up
