I don't understand the concept of only allowing "foreigners" to play in certain tournaments. It seems like they want to give non-Koreans a chance at being subpar in a globally played game, and this seems insane (why ins't this considered racist/bigotry?). It's one thing if KESPA teams won't allow their players into these tournaments, but it's another when they're just saying that you have to "live in certain regions" just to be able to sign up for a tournament. Whoever decided to set this game up this way is slowly killing the game. After SSL and GSL end in a couple of months, there isn't another individual league for Koreans until January of 2017. I know for myself and probably the many others who stay up late at night to watch SPL, SSL, and GSL that this will be a large blow to our interest in the game and will potentially cause a real dip in long-term viewership because of the long span of no games (outside of SPL).

Group A : Snute / PtitDrogo. Stephano could easily get a top 1 or 2 finish if he keeps training like a mad man. Plus the way he plays with his lings reminds me of Life and could throw off some of his opponents from their comfortable zone. I don't really know MaSa, so I won't comment anything about him. Group B : Firecake / Dayshi / Mana in this order. Depending on Dayshi's performance, he can get the top 2 aswell. But he has to prove it against the very experienced Mana. Group C : SortOf / NoRegret / Showtime again in this order. Even though Showtime looked pretty solid in his last tournament, I'm still not convinced about his run. I feel like he lucked it out. Hopefully I'm wrong though. Group D : uThermal / Lambo. Wouldn't be surprised to see Namshar winning against Lambo. Both their ZvZ look solid (with a preference for Namshar) Group E : True. Yeah, nothing much to see here. Then, huh... I feel like they can all take the 2nd spot really. Maybe Heromarine has a higher chance since it's his home ? Group F : Scarlett / Welmu. Depending on her performance, I can easily see her in top 1 aswell as a last place. Group G : Nerchio / Demuslim. Experience + strong basics macro games. Lilbow is out of shape nowadays. Maybe I'm wrong, and would really like to see a fellow friend getting high up there. Group H : Harstem / Guru. Or Guru / Harstem. they both look solid really. Either way all the matches lok promising Have fun & good luck !

If I remember correctly, there were no WCS points awarded for playing in HSC, which really makes me curious as to why there aren't any Koreans playing here. Perhaps there's a reason they weren't invited, which is sad because that makes this another tournament that nobody cares about because the level of play isn't top tier. True is playing in this. Koreans are allowed to play and they tried to invite many of the top koreans, but none of the could go/wanted to go because of spl suddenly being on the weekend, or other shedule issues. Also HSC never was about the best players of the world, it always was about the fun and being "different". So i would recommend you to still watch

Also, @SpaceJam, read the thread/article about HSC. It'll explain why there's only 1 Korean at HSC this year. Plus, there's weekly and monthly online cups that Koreans participate in; minor tournaments too. Just the struggle of finding a stream!

All KeSPA teams declined the invitations because of Proleague. And that's the majority of Korean players.
