Look at the source link, they have tier 1/2/3/4 points just based on 2016 GSL season 1 results.
So Maru and Stats both have 200, and there're many 200 - some get into tier 3 and some get into tier 4. Also some 300 get into tier 2 and some in tier 3.
Hope someone understand Korean can tell if they said something in the article about this - just curious.
Luckily those "tier 3/4" but actual super good players like Stats Maru Patience Byun all get a very good draw. Only sOs falls into a difficult group.

guys thats not what the tier is about, it seems to be about how far you got in season 1. the 8 players who reached the RO8 in season 1 and got seeded into code s season 2 are tier 1, if you reached the RO 16 you're tier 2, if you reached the RO 32 you're tier 3 (unless noone in your group reached the RO 16, then you might also be tier 2. 3rd or 4th place in your RO 32 group doesnt seem to matter), if you didnt make code s in season 1 you're tier 4
EDIT: ah ok didnt see the source link with the points. makes sense with Code A - 200 RO 32 - 300 RO 16 - 450 etc. and also explains the groups for example that zest from the top of the list is in a group with MC from the very bottom of the list

Yeah. That's why i said it. His results are a RO8. There are 8 groups. Would be pretty gay balls if multiple RO8 players could end up in the same group.

Oh how I wish this was still pre-LotV TvZ with the possibility of Taeja vs soO on the table. They only ever met once and at Blizzcon. It turned out to be one of the best TvZ series ever.
Anway, if Taeja still gives a crap I see Dark as the only Zerg making it out of a group. Maybe ByuL if he stops losing to Patience and actually adapts to LotV.
Zest vs MC again ^^
|
I wonder if near retired Taeja will be good enough to stop slumping soO.

TaeJa isn't part of the TeamLiquid Pro roster anymore since a few weeks. So he is teamless for his last matches, I guess.

would be interesting to know how exactly the groups / that ranking (of players with the same points) are made. group a is kinda straight forward with rank 1 of tier 1 & 2 and rank 8 of tier 3 & 4 but cant really see a pattern for the rest. we need incontrol to crunch the numbers !
|
welcome to ro16 with 1-2 Zerg max..
|
Taeja vs MC finals lets goooooo
|
Every group looks interesting.
Thank the Gods we may witness another Zest vs MC. Gonna be the rivalry of 2016

Ok Losira, let's get it together and bring all 4 KT Bois into the Ro16. Won't happen, I know....
Difficult times for the zergs...IMO: Group A: Don't think Solar can beat Zest or Gumiho - perhaps MC, but he is still the underdog. Group C: Byun, Classic are stronger than Losira and most likely get out of the group. Seed/Losira are the same - really inconsistent plays. Group D: Maru #1. Rest somewhat depend on Taeja - retired/still training? Also everything is possible in ZvZ - slight edge to soO there. Group E: No way Impact has any impact at all in his group. Other 3 are magnitudes stronger atm. Group F: aLive and Ryung should be the main contenders for #1 & #2 (based on TvT). BUT: Rogue has to prepare for ZvT only. He has a shot for sure - at least we get some good games. Group G: Dark for sure. Rest is soso, even herO with some problems lately. Group H: Byul slumping hard atm. Dear and Patience have the best chances.

Feeling sorry for sOs ... Super is THE player in form in the last month .. beating Maru as first, MC and 2-0 Zest ...
|
I think Group F can become the most fun and unpredictable group. All these players are all pretty solid. Rooting for Dream & Rogue to go through.
|
There's 8 protoss that need to practice the whole 3 matchups, Rogue and Cure only need to practice one matchup
|
Overall very balanced groups, all really strong as well. It's not often a Group of Death is unidentifiable in ro32. We need MC to fuck everyone in ro16.

why is taeja still there i thought he retired?

Nice groups. Already hyped for Group A, i'm gonna cheer for MC and GumiHo

Somebody mentioned in some video, that somebody has retired and he meant "actually retired" = "really retired".
