Everyone above #8 is now safe. Amazingly, not a single player vying for that final spot managed to advance through any of the qualifiers, which means that, unless any other tournament magically pops up on the horizon, there will be a tiebreak scenario between Elazer and viOLet. These have, in the past, been solved with a deciding match.
Here's a short wrap-up of last night's events.
uThermal was the first contender to be eliminated, falling 1-2 to Nerchio and Harstem. Qualification for KeSPA Cup would have been enough for a BlizzCon spot for him.
Elazer fell second, defeated 0-2 by his direct rival PtitDrogo and 1-2 by
PtitDrogo must have caused Elazer multiple heart attacks last night, going as far as 2-1 up against MarineLorD in the Winners' Bracket Semifinals, even beating the Polish Zerg himself on his way there, but was ultimately knocked out in the penultimate series of the qualifier by HeRoMaRinE. Qualification would have secured the #8 spot for the French Protoss at Elazer's expense. PtitDrogo was understandably disappointed with his performance, as he expressed on Twitter and in our LR thread. Especially his PvT seemed prone to error last night.
Neither of the two qualified players need the WCS points for BlizzCon. Nerchio was already sitting comfortably in the secured #3 spot, while MarineLorD was already without a chance beforehand. Nerchio is tied with Neeb, however, so he still has better seeding to play for.
Thank you for following the KeSPA Cup Qualifiers! We will be back to cover the main event for you as well.
Why anyone would be a fan of Nerchio I don't understand. He gets outplayed in map 5 by Marinelord and of course, no GG, just a "haha". Such a baby imo. He takes his losses like a man-child, can't wait till he end up at the Kespa cup, he'll have lot of laughing to do.

Probably laughing that ZvT finally isn't always auto-win :o

So how could anyone be a fan of IdrA or Naniwa? Because they were good and always provided a show.
Nerchio is way less salty then those guys and I really don't care if he ggs or not. He will never tell you to kill yourself or insult your mother. He might whine a bit here or there about balance, but which pro does not? We need some anti heroes/badboys anyway. His rivalry with TL players like Snute for example is a great story.
He is a funny guy, gives super good interviews, is active on TL and Twitter, super nice to his fans and just one of the best players there is. I don't see how you could not be a fan and Nerchio is pure value for any team or sponsor, as Red Bull realised .
I have to say that this qualifier was far more entertaining then I expected, with blizzcon dreams being shattered all over the place, Korean slayer coming back to live to (beside cheesing out Nerchio) smack down his fellow country man so that he could produce a quote of the year for us:
On September 17 2016 08:24 Nerchio wrote: I don't think Drogo throws that hard, he didn't have super huge lead in that game
If I canceled the last shade I win the game 100%
which basically states that he had a game in the bag ("win the game 100%") and he threw it away but somehow is still confident that if he would've canceled that shade he would not find a way to throw another 100% lead away (even though that's all he can do properly)… #FlawelessLogic #BrokenDreams
Is there a stat somewhere showing throwing success rate? I think Drogo might be at the top of such ranking due to his unique skill set.
Shame that Snute went down though, but at least Nerchio eventually made it and having Mlord there makes for such a great story. I hope he won't go down without a fight but he might need to tune down on his racist comments to not get banned after the first set
