Galatic process actually has a slightly higher Zerg win rate in the match up The map Nerchio won on is also zerg favored according to stats In other words your excuses are bullshit. Nerchio couldn't back up his talk, plain and simple.

Like always they are for the most part below the Koreans with 1 guy who can make a decent showing. Nothing has changed with aggravates me even more. Despite my elitist, 'hate posting' a part of me really did want Foreigners to do better, to see that change. At least that way the Korean scene isn't slowly dying for nothing. But this.. Literally killing the scene so spoiled brats can milk a bit more money out of the game is beyond infuriating.

This pov is incredibly shallow and misses any nuance this topic deserves. Not that i am surprised to see it on here but still..

He got severely outplayed in both games 1 and 3 and did not deserve to win the series. In game 1 particularly he had a massive advantage and threw it away not by a singular mistake, but by incrementally falling further behind as he did nothing to prevent Maru from eeking out small advantages. His inability to prevent Maru from canceling his bases over and over put him in a position of inevitable defeat. People praise Nerchio's defense, but in game 3 all he did was defend. Maru pinned him back so effectively that he did nothing to hinder Maru's economy. Maru took an early third and got away with it. The result of the match was determined the moment Nerchio failed to punish him for that. To top it off, Nerchio's biles in game 1 were abysmal. He won the early build order battle in game 1, but then lost due to poor multitasking and micro, both the hallmarks of mid-late game Starcraft. In game 3 he showed a lack of understanding of the larger situation. Not once did he even attempt a run by to alleviate pressure on himself. He simply kept falling behind until he had lost. I agree with you that it wasn't as close as most people are saying, but Nerchio still played well for a foreigner

While he didnt really stand a chance against the Koreans he faced even though they weren't bringing their A-game (esp Classic who played so atrociously poorly ), I don't think Nerchio has ever hit his injects better, spread his creep better, been more on point than these days - so who knows; if he keeps practising maybe one day he will be able to compete with the big boys. Nerchio played as well as any Korean there. But when you have a group of 4 very skilled players and only two make it out, Nechio's chances of advancing are 50%.

"all very skilled" XDDD Were we watching the same games today? Classic going MSC before 2nd and 3rd Gateway in his first game against Nerchio. Classic losing an Archon while doing Warp Prism harass to Roaches, Ravagers and Queens in the second game of that series. Patience miscontrolling his first Oracle in his first game against Nerchio, only killing 3 Drones when he easily could have gotten 4-5 Drones with just decent control. Nerchio not being prepared for when Patience's second Oracle coming around in the same game despite this not being an uncommon thing for Protosses to do when going Oracle. Patience losing both of his Oracles to a Spore and two Queens only killing off a few Probes in the second game against Nerchio. Just to name a few of all the silly mistakes being made today.

High level starcraft is so volatile that a player can win GSL one season and be the first to get out of the tournament the next season. Wich is kind of what happened here lol (Byun getting eliminated in the first group even though he is the reigning GLS champ)

He really did play terribly, though. What a bad latter half of the year for SKT (minus Dark).
