오버워치- Overwatch / 스타2 - SC2 / LOL=LoL. <-I bet you can read this one.
In this IEM, unlike other games, SC2 fans cannot watch Ro.16 and Ro.8 at the venue; those games will be held at OGN O-square and only be available to watch through TV and internet streaming. Semifinals and Grandfinals will be held at Goyang Stadium with audiences.
"SC2 is the most heart-bleeding game for OGN. We tried our best not to disappoint our fans. Someday we might do something with SC2, and we're yearning for that day. We're happy to broadcast SC2 through IEM."
"Actually, we're not neglecting SC2; rather, we're favouring it. Those who know how much this tournament costs would understand my word. ESL needs ticket sales and we're wondering if any SC2 event in Korea would attract any audiences. And this means we need other games in order to compensate the loss. In this situation, it's absolutely clear we do care about SC2. I think there has been a little misunderstanding since ESL and OGN work together."
*Bullshit.

Damn, holy shit, some no fluff real talk right there, I can't believe a Korean spokesperson was so direct.

Well koreans have to show they care about sc2 go watch live round ! Buy tickets

First I tried to translate entire article, but I just realised my English is getting worse. Sorry.
Edit: Look, I got a cake.

Wasn't Proleague finals evidence that people do care about SC2? Sure the audience is not as huge as Broodwar but that's because SC2 isn't as nice to play or watch as Broodwar for the Koreans.

I dont understand either finals of ASL had fewer online viewers and live support than gsl happening same day, there is sc2 spirit within some koreans for sure ... I guess they have to show more passion than that...
|
It's a business decision, i don't blame them.
Unless they have proof that SC2 is going to get more support in the future, be glad if we have anymore events in korea.

Taking them at face value I'd have to agree. For people saying recent SC2 events have done well in Korea, this could just be their own doomsday predictions, what with just one Korean team left and all...

Looks like OSL is dead forever now. I don't think Korea can support 2 leagues at once without massive outside support.

Blizzard is to blame, no one else.

I would not care if they do not broadcast SC2. But OGN cared SC2? Huh.

Yes clearly it must always be Blizzards fault always.

But it does tell you that Blizzard is perhaps providing fewer subsidies for SC2 and the important people on the production side have moved on to other games that they perceive as more popular or having a bigger audience.
|
I don't blame them either, like GTR wrote this is business 101, they're going with the games that are more profitable. I agree that Blizzard is partially to blame with SC2's game design.
|
It is business, and they can do w/e they like.
However, I do find it reassuring that it is causing anger. Shows that people still care in Korea.
|
OGN cares about sc2?? LOL pls. if they really did, they wouldn't bail on the game after like 1 season of OSL to focus on LoL.
I understand it's a business decision, but don't say "we care about sc2".
