So not in the best way. I don't quite follow this logic tbh. Announcing a remake for an event which is there to celebrate starcraft's 19th birthday isn't that weird? I didn't say it was weird.

Then they continued to work on Brood War for another 18 months after its retail release. the center of the company revolved around SC1 and Brood War. SC2 was a low priority passing through the hands of 3 different designers. Pardo was their #1 designer and got moved off of SC2 very early on as the company mainly focused on WoW.
Brood War came out before WC2 B.net (over a year before in fact). I'm still bitter that they completely abandoned wc2 after release. I mean they later patched replays to Brood War but not WC2bnet, a later release!

So not in the best way. To be fair, Mike Morhaime kinda did something similar at the final BW OSL by appearing on stream and saying something along the lines of "SC2 is the future" iirc.
Maybe they could've done this as a separate event. The legends lineup is plenty to be able to draw in a good audience.

Blizzard offered as much or more support to WC2 and SC1 than other major developers did for their RTS games.
What other games coming out in 1995/early-1996 got the kind of support WC2 ending up getting?

Tfw Bisu is better against Jaedong than Flash.

WC2bnet was marketed as a new game (originally called WC2 platinum with a new campaign before they scrapped that if I recall correctly) . It sold at full retail and you couldn't patch to it from your older War2 copies so I classify it as a 99 game. :p It's hard to deny that the game was hard abandoned shortly after release. I realize the market wasn't there (maybe it didn't sell well? I don't know the numbers) so I do understand why a company wouldn't keep supporting it.
For what it's worth, other notable non-Blizzard games from that era to get major updates long after release include System Shock 2 and Thief 2.
We're going way offtopic so we can continue this by PM if you want; I don't want to clutter this thread with this discussion.

These players' peak performance is not relevant? k /backtoignoringyou So you actually believe that looking at their head to head record which happened over multiple years is more relevant than recent results / matchup strengths, etc? I don't know the results of march but at least in february Jaedong was at ZvP: 23-7 (76.6%) with a 2-0 vs Bisu while having ZvT: 19-12 (61.2%) with 0-2 over flash. So yes Jaedong is way more likely to beat Bisu than Flash atm. I really didn't think that anyone could actually get triggered by this but hey what do you know, BW fanatics never disappoint.

I think Starcraft's sucess completely overshadowed Warcraft 2 in more ways than one. Like we know Warcraft 2 sold well, but we dont know if the b.net edition was the most successful thing on the planet, and Starcraft probably looked like a complete juggernaut compared to both.

Eh, its a 1 night league, its show matches. I think theres been like, 4-5 TLBS showmatces, so I understand that its starting to be become underwhelming, because with SSL, it certainly feels like the scene is becoming TOO much about TLBS.That wouldnt be a problem competitively if they duked it out from qualifiers, but thats not the case.

Apparently 3/4 of TBLS don't want to do SSL according to this post.
