Zest got things off to a good start by holding Forte’s cyclone push. His phoenixes shut down the follow up attack with tanks, too, putting his team up 1-0.
Zest jumped out to a lead in game two as well, but a sickening string of disrupter donations simply handed things back to Patience, who sniped Zest’s fourth multiple times and even the series.
After Patience's two gate into dt opening failed to end the game, ByuN stayed aggressive off two base economy, eventually taking down Patience's third. Patience's desperate blink onto double digit widow mines ended predictably; with a ByuN win.
ByuN’s opened cloaked banshees against Stats, killing seven workers before the game stabilized for a time. Eventually ByuN began a similar push to the game before. Liberator/mine/bio once more took down a third and put Team Zest one game from advancing.
Impact held ByuN’s three rax reaper, but the follow up attack battered his army, propelling Team Zest to the finals.
ByuL faced off against Classic in the first match of the finals, battering away at Classic with ling/bane based tech. His hydras were able to succeed where Solar’s ravagers had not the day before to give Team herO team the lead.
Team Zest threw out ByuN who won a 20 minute cracker of a ZvT which featured ling/bane/muta vs bio/mine. ByuL managed to gut ByuN's economy, but a crucial snipe on ByuL's fifth halted the Zerg's mining, ending the game.
herO was next up, but his first appearance was not a positive one. ByuN’s cloaked banshees ran rampant as a proxy factory build set up a contain on herO’s natural that the ROOT Protoss couldn’t break.
Trust tried to stem the bleeding, but was unable to. His proxy oracles didn’t get as much damage done as he would have liked, allowing ByuN to get another win against Protoss via the same liberator/mine/bio push.
ByuN took an early lead on Bel’Shir Vestige, but a two tank drop in his main put him behind. From there, Bunny did further damage while widening his lead, closing things out with a fight outside his natural.
Bunny kept things going on Honorgrounds, where his greater economy and failed drop from jjakji overcame an early army disadvantage. A doom drop into jjakji’s natural forced jjakji into a final attack that failed.
The ace match started wtih Bunny repelling Zest’s mothership core and oracle without losing workers. Zest kept the pedal down, though, and his blink follow up put Bunny at 20 workers to 50. Bunny pulled the boys, but it was not enough as Zest won the final game for his team to make them the VSL champions by the score of 4-3.
