there is gonna be a huge gap between guys like Rifkin and Feardragon and the former pros lol. Why no Nathanias btw? A dank meme tourney w/o battlecruisers isnt the same...

He's not feeling it atm. A couple of years ago he'd have done it but not now.
Where are the korean casters in this? Will be a fun tournament to watch for sure! Hopefully there will be a second one after that with even more participation

Tbh, the winner SHOULD be either tod or rotterdam. Most sc2 fans don't even know ToD was a multiple WCS Top 32 foreigner in 2010-2013 around that. Incontrol probably close 3rd. Shame would love to watch Incontrol vs Nathanias :D

My thoughts as well, though as much as I love Rotti, I don't think he has gotten to their level yet. Could be wrong though as it's been a while since I regularly watched his stream.
This is awesome. Altho I feel like involving Chinese casters would've been fun: they've boasted about how they would "crush" western casters. Definitely would've drawn a lot of attention in China.

Yeah I can see him training hardcore like in a Rocky montage (in between diaper changes). The guy has the dedication and he definitely had some skill in the past.

What about that top 8 pig had? He's been a pro more recently then tod
i remember around ~2-3 years ago someone posted a thread with this idea and totalbiscuit came in telling people the idea was "pointless" and would "never happen" and everyone who wanted it to happen "didn't understand esports"
But I am confused about the days. In the banner it first says that the tournament will start on the 23rd of June and end on the 2nd of July, but then the first group is playing on the 30th of June and the and the finals are on the 9th of July. Which are the right dates?
If imre practices he'll probably take this if he manages to beat PiG. The guy is incredible in such formats because he can punch way over his weight when able to analyze his opponents, he has the same ability as PPMD in Smash, but relatively bad mechanics and not the motivation to be at the top so he isn't a progamer. YoGo is kind of a ladder hero (considering he is a caster) but can't bring himself to play at his skill level when paired up against good opponents, so his ladder rank is a bit misleading. However he is still very good so he could play very well if people don't expect him to win / has no pressure to win. Funka will probably go through lower bracket but not much more. ToD has a nice MMR on EU and a lot of experience, plus the fact that it's kind of a "friendly" competition will help him play well, he can beat everyone here and probably won't be upset. Plus, if Koka doesn't beat Incontrol, ToD won't have to show his PvT (I don't know what race Rifkin plays and at which MMR) so imre will be in the dark against him. Rotterdam is like ToD but less strong afaik? And since I managed to allin him easily recently I have a hard time imagining him winning this. PiG has the best MMR of them all afaik, with random, so enough said? Being able to play all three races will be HUGE against imre.
Let's try to predict: Group A: ToD and Koka but with Koka losing to Incontrol in winner and winning in loser.
Group B: imre and Rotterdam with imre winning in winner's bracket.
Group C: PiG and Funka with PiG from winner's bracket.
Group D: YoGo and TKL with TKL losing to Artosis in winner but winning in loser.

So many compliments wow
Building up hype for the epic choke.
I love the concept but it's still over a month away

So far in O'gaming in house tournaments we proved that YoGo was the choker not me.
Yeah Incontrol definitely should be considered. I don't know if he'll take the whole thing but I'd put him in the top four alongside Pig, Tod, and Rotti.
Would've been interested to see all the major casters playing. I'd have to favor PiG since he's probably the most 'recent' player-turned-caster. But then again Artosis has been a champ before so you never know.

Tasteless doesn't play Sc2, and hasn't since like 2011. I don't imagine he'd be very good. Most of the casters that could have been in this but declined to play are not very good at the game or don't even really play. Playing would only cause them embarrassment and negative attention.
Idea looks fun, they didn't present what races they will play, will it be fixed races or race swapping allowed?
There will be rather big skill gaps which leads to a lot of stomps but hopefully some weird fun games also. I agree that no Nathanias is a shame (not that I think he'd win but still) and "Junge junge junge" we miss the take tv casters.
I know Pig is very good and probably the favourite? ZG is good and maybe a contender, Tod was a pro, and really good in hots, but this isn't hots and I have no idea to what extent he plays/practice.
Funka? If he's half as good as his observing he should do well.
I could maybe count out some for lack of practice like Artosis (kids and hearthstone), Rifkin (busy with TV-shop), Feardragon (no facts with ingame value), Wardi (makes hearts while playing) and if Incontrol wins I'll eat my shorts. * text above not to be read as agressive or angry rant *
There are several contestants that I have very little info of.
I've been tweeted at a lot for this tournament, and people asked "Why didn't you do it??" or asking if I were invited. I was, and I initially accepted. OGN started APEX Season 3 (Overwatch) way earlier than I originally expected, and I had to drop out in order to prepare for that. I wish the competitors luck, and I really wish I could've played! I probably would have been destroyed, but I'm glad that FINALLY, after over half a decade, a proper caster tournament is running. The community has wanted this for years, and it's finally happening. I'll be watching!
I just really hope the casters start creating hype videos for themselves. If any tournament is ever going to get trash talk between players before the games, it's this one. These guys are more used to creating content; I hope they actually make some. It'd be great.

Ah man that's unfortunate. We coulda been hyping you up like "Did you guys know that Wolf has been training in KOREA for this!?"
took me a while to figure it out but i actually thought this was a casting tournament. scrolled and searched around to see what where the criterias for best casting and what players they would cast playing
Based on ladder rankings Pig and Yogo are the best players. Rotti and Incontrol are not far behind, both are in grandmaster ladder.
As far as practice Rotti has a chance, he streams a lot of hours and doesn't play other games. He only plays Starcraft as Protoss. Incontrol streams a lot playing Xcom 2 and Dawn of war 3.
I like Zombiegrub and Maynard though both are Terrans. Maynard's streams are the best for typical fans wanting to learn more and have fun. He's a likable guy. As for Zombiegrub I like her for different reasons.
I really hope they will try to make it as interactive with the playing casters as possible - because if they are just names on stream, it kinda misses the point. Obviously you can't let them in the cast, but everyone hanging out on air before/after games should be compulsory.

Nah the date in the OP (23rd to 2nd) was just wrong, it starts next week. The Harstem perk was achieved indeed.
Artosis has no chance in hell to win this. Aside from having a full time job that does not involve streaming he has a family. 3 kids and a wife. They just had twins!
How in the hell is he going to practice several hours every day to compete? They just finished a long season of GSL. In the meantime several of these casters are practicing that much. Pig and Rotti stream all the time when they can. Rotti will stream 10 hours straight just playing Starcraft 2.
Artosis is a worker though. He became a world class player in Heartstone and won blizzcon and has played Heroes of the storm enough to be able to cast that on occasion. Still between GSL and ASL broodwar and his family it sees impossible he has the time to properly prepare.

does anyone have any idea about how good at the game Korean casters are ? Would Korean casters destroy foreign casters or would foreignland have a better chance than in the actual game ?

I think PiG or YoGo would be perfectly fine against JYP or Canata who should be the highest level Korean casters.

yeah that's what I would guess too.
Maybe they should do a similar tourney in the korean scene and then have the champions clash against each other ^^.

Crank would trash everyone!
GO RIFKIN!! You got that quitter ez!!
seriously, this tourney will be gud. I just hope there will be meme games when the weaker casters are involved.

I want Feardragon to use his awesome 99% useless fact against Yogo
Zombiegrub is streaming as I write this. Don't expect much from her she is just in diamond league. MMR 4100.
Several people have mentioned Day(9). Not sure what Day is doing these days. If he streamed Starcraft 2 5 hours a day he would have 750+ viewers on average. He is that well liked.
Its funny how the casting of a casters tournament was done so terribly. The fact that half the games were cast by Harstem and we could only see half of the game is fucking ridiculous
