With only five matches remaining in the GSL Season 2 Round of 32, ByuN, herO, MajOr and Armani battled it out to decide who the final two players to advance to the next stage will be.
herO brought a swift end to game one as his canceled stargate turned into an adept timing with glaives. MajOr put up more resistance in game two with successful mine drops, but herO shaded in along with phoenixes for the 2-0 sweep.
The second series was another 2-0. ByuN took game one with a three rax reaper build. He opted for the 16 marine stimpack timing on Daybreak which Armani held initially. ByuN repeatedly traded well, however, culminating in a lethal push outside of Armani’s natural which broke the Zerg.
herO opted for pylon rushes coupled with oracles in all three games. The first earned him the win, but ByuN held the next two better. Games two and three went ByuN's way as he weathered herO's pressure. He ended up on top in a pair of base trades to escape the group in first place.
MajOr took game one after a hellion run by killed 19 of Armani’s drones. MajOr went for mech in a long game two. The players teched switch multiple times, but MajOr kept getting the better end of transitions. The game was all but decided when he wiped out Armani’s brood lords and corrupters with vikings. Armani stuck around, but he never had the income to rebuild a tier three army and was eliminated.
MajOr got another shot at herO in the final match of the day. He started with a proxy mine drop which failed to do significant damage. His follow up tank push was shut down, giving herO a 1-0 lead. Game two almost turned into a base trade, but both players held. herO had higher supply and was on two bases versus one, however, and eventually won the battle of attrition.
With his victory, herO rounds out the Round of 16 and will join ByuN in group nominations.
