I'm fine with that policy, that's why I enjoy browsing the forums here, most opinions are substantiated that's rare on internet.
However, I'm using github a lot, they have this really cool emoticon style feedback on posts, I'm pretty sure it would liven discussions to have such a feature on TL.
I realize it's a bit putting the power to the people as the forums are currently (very well) moderated, but it's more for postive feedback than anything, something pleasing when you're writing a post to know someone has read and appreciated it.

Just a +1 -1 button on posts would be a nice start, or just +1 if you're afraid of people bashing.
But this emoticon thing is pretty nice imo, it adds some flavour, if it does not get abused (but that means interactivity).
