Hello again friends of TL. I have already broadly discussed in my previous posts the marketing strategy as well as the geographic strategy for the success of SC2.
Now, I have created a more detailed and meticulous program that would ensure success for SC2 and TL. This is the first part of three. At this point, the sctrategy is: A FOCUSED AND ALL-STAR HIGH-PRIZE POOL 2-DAY TOURNAMENT.
The tournament will be a collaboration among TL, major SC2 sponsors and Korean organizations. And I would humbly offer my services as tournament organizer and my staff as part of the event team that will take care of all organizational and logistic requirements of the tournament.
The player pool will be limited to the top 8 best of the best players - among them Byun, Innovation, TY, Dark, Rogue, and others that we as TL can collectively decide upon.
Since this is the best of the best, the ranking will be done in Round 1 playoffs round robin round. Since it is only for ranking purpose, it will only be best of 3. All the other rounds will be best of 7 to maximize audience entertainment and players skills.
Round 1 - Ranking Playoffs (Best of 3)
8 player playoff round robin
Total Win/Loss will determine the ranking. In case of ties, number of losses will decide the rank, i.e 11/6 wins over 11/8
Round 2 - Quarter Finals (Best of 7)
Match A: #1 vs. #8
Match B: #2 vs. #7
Match C: #3 vs. #6
Match D: #4 vs. #5
Round 3 - Semi Finals (Best of 7)
Match 1: Winner Match A vs. Winner Match D
Match 2: Winner Match B vs. Winner Match C
Round 4 - Battle for 3rd (Best of 7)
Loser of Semis Match 1 vs. Loser of Semis Match 2
Round 5 - Battle for 3rd (Best of 7)
Winner of Semis Match 1 vs. Winnerof Semis Match 2
1st Prize: $100,000
2nd Prize: $30,000
3rd Prize: $15,000
4th Prize: $10,000
5th-8th Prize: $5,000
There are three proposed locations for this in order to optimize SC2's global expansion outside the US and Korea. First is in the Philippines which has a massive amount of SC2 following and is already a fluent English speaking country which will make it easier to disseminate the event. Second is China, which has a massive population and potential. Third is Singapore, which also has a large following and is an economic powerhouse. In my expert opinion, doing the Event in the Philippines is the best option since it is a culturally diverse English speaking community and the cost of living is relatively low.
Prize Pool: $175,00.00
Organizational Expense: $20,000
By all accounts, this would be incredibly cheap going by major tournaments' standards. Moreover, this is a little investment considering the amount of profit and marketing this will earn for SC2 and TL.
Let's do this TL and SC2 community!!!
