With the first semifinal already decided, INnoVation, ByuN, Dark and TY gathered to complete the Ro4. Victory was critical for ByuN and Dark in particular, both of whom were flirting with BlizzCon and in need of WCS points in order to strengthen their bid for the year end event.
ByuN held a lead in the early stages of game one, but a botched small scale siege saw things swing INnoVation's way. He maintained his advantage by staying ahead on bases and limiting ByuN's production, eventually taking a 1-0 lead.
Once more ByuN had the advantage early on, but he was unable to break a four base INnoVation. Air control swung back and forth, but INnoVation kept killing workers and took the game, due in part to the addition of ranged liberators to his bio/tank army.
ByuN was faster to three bases on Ascension to Aiur, but was behind on supply until doing substantial damage with a four tank drop. He dealt the final blow by diving on INnoVation's army down the ramp from his natural and killing 19 SCVs.
ByuN looked dead to rights on Acolyte, but a miracle engagement put him nearly 30 supply ahead. He was unable to punish INnoVation right away, but sniping two planetaries signaled the beginning of the end, sending the series to a final game.
Both players' efforts at harassment fell flat, but a double drop from INnoVation killed 21 workers, giving him a lead he would not relinquish. Down on supply, ByuN went for a final droom drop that INnoVation easily cleaned up to take the match.
TY was unable to stop Dark from teching into hive off four bases in their first game. TY held a strong tank line in the middle of the map, but Dark traded well and killed 21 workers with ultralisk harassment. A final surge of hydras into TY's tanks clinched things in Dark’s favor.
After a passive start, TY’s lengthy siege on Dark's fourth earned him a supply lead. Dark responded by killing three bases with ultralisk runbys and, while he bled units to a doom drop in his main, he cleaned up the bio/liberator army before killing a host of SCVs to go up 2-0.
After a pair of long games, Dark’s frontal ravager attack and queen drop paired with ling drops in TY’s main overran the Terran, despite three bunkers and a tank in his natural. The win sets up a semifinal between ex-teammates Dark and INnoVation, and also secured Dark a position at BlizzCon.

I guess if Dark could roflstomp TY, Innovation is no longer invincible in TvZ right?

ty was bad, 90 scvs in 2nd set, and refuse to repair bunkers vs ravagers in 3rd set

I think TY likes playing a high scv count, in his defense, since he kinda likes to play a style where he constantly trades by being aggressive (plus drops) so a higher SCV count means he can trade more frequently. But it doesn't handle harassment very well since your standing army is smaller, so probably a mispreparation on his part

That byun vs inno game 4 was comeback of the year material, insane

Best player of each race and the hype odd year sOs daredevil, amazing semis.

Innovation vs Dark has to be the most played matchup of high level koreans.
|
Inno vs Dark had better produce some fucking amazing games. Will be so disappointing if one just bops the other.

man i wanteed byun to win. i guess i'll just kill myself. i have nothing else to live for

Pretty happy for sOs. sOs can (and will) beat Stats. sOs can (and will) beat Dark. sOs could never beat Innovation. sOs could (and would) not beat ByuN.

sOs definitely has a good chance to make it to Blizzcon now. PvP should be in his wheelhouse.
Dark and Inno are both players he has beaten, so it shouldn't be too bad. His stats against ByuN was always pretty lacklustre

I am shocked at how dominant Dark was over TY, I am sad soo didnt make it but it will be a great ro4

Inno and sOs are just about the only great players left from that era.

Dear, Maru Scarlett and aLive are still around. Also ByuL and SoO were getting a couple 2nd places in 2013 iirc?

I wish that cheater is still alive though, then he can replace soO and have a perfect race line here.

They have at least one offline champion title every single year since 2013 (if sOs win something this year ofc). No one else achieved this. Also look at their career offline win rates against Koreans during each patch and each era, you cannot believe how consistent they are through such a long time. Only if that cheater didn't cheat...

Huh? Dear and Maru were winning starleagues back in 2013. By litterally no measure was soO doing better that year, or even Life for that matter
edit: for reference, Maru won OSL, and Dear won a GSL. soO's only significant result was a silver GSL medal (to Dear), and Life's were winning some smaller overseas tournaments. Believe it or not, Life was pretty weak in Korea during 2013. iirc 2012 and 2014 were more his years

Life won an MLG in 2013, and his final against Maru in 2015 at IEM Tappei is one of my fav ZvT series of All time - also that IEM was so great with Maru vs herO, Rain vs Soulkey, Maru vs Soulkey, Life vs Parting and of course the final Life Vs Maru with that unholly pause by Life ! Fucking great tournament

Wow, I just realized Dark's already in the round of 4. I thought he wasn't supposed to get past R16.

He didn't want to be the next Curious. Nothing can stop him now.

I'd be happy for anyone who reaches Ro4. Strange... It's not like TY played bad, he really knew what to do but may be wasn't prepared enough for the specific army combination and strategies of Dark. May be I'd like to watch my favorite terran and zerg right now in a longer and more dramatic match between them. For Byun I guess I got the feeling that he was very respected by Bogus in this match. He played well, but not too well for Inno's perfection. Even the rounds that Byun won was due to Innovation's fault and may be he was too patient after he was leading with 50 supply in most of the time. I expect really crazy semi-finals!

The comment chain was about 2013 but fair enough haha. Maru and Dear were certainly impressive in that year still
