soO's 12 pool killed Impact’s natural and bought him a lead into the midgame. Impact's mutalisks pulled him back into it, though, with lurkers earning him the advantage. soO tried to switch into mass mutalisks, but could not overcome Impact's hydralisks.
soO's 13/12 expand failed to do initial damage, but soO doubled down with a baneling nest. Getting the wrong end of a three to one baneling trade put things out of reach for soO who went down 0-2.
soO's lair and fourth base were faster as the players moved into roach vs roach, but he was unable to make any headway. Impact's decision to overmax with banelings proved critical as he squashed soO in a big engagement at his fourth and rode the advantage to a clean sweep.
Rogue and jjakji entered the midgame largely unhindered. jjakji went into bio/tank in an attempt to counter Rogue's ling/bane/hydra, but was cleaned up attacking into Rogue's fourth. When jjakji moved out, Rogue killed 59 workers while cleaning up his army with vipers and ultralisks.
Down 1-0, jjakji evened the series with a hellbat push that caught Rogue off guard.
Rogue reached hive and four bases up more than twenty supply. Both players failed to find crippling damage, but burrowed zerglings slowed jjakji's expansions as Rogue assembled a ling/bane/hydra army accompanied by ultralisks, vipers and infestors that put him up 2-1.
jjakji had his hellbat timing pushed back by queens while suffering losses back at home to zergling run bys. With things falling apart on both fronts, jjakji conceded, condemning him to the bottom spot in Challenge.
ByuN took an early lead after getting the better end of a small tank/cyclone skirmish and kept the pressure on as he built his advantage. Bunny went for a last ditch counter, but was cleaned up despite getting the jump on ByuN's tank and left the game.
Bunny jumped ahead in supply after his reapers canceled ByuN's natural and furthered his lead with a drop into ByuN's main that put him 16 workers up. Catching ByuN's medivacs full of units was the final straw that claimed the concession.
ByuN's attempted push with cyclones and a cloaked banshee turned out disastrous as Bunny took a sizeable lead on the counter. Bunny sieged ByuN's production while taking a third, building a lead that culminated in a lethal tank push into ByuN's third.
Bunny's reapers died without contest in game four, enabling ByuN to expand undisturbed. Down two bases to three, Bunny tried to take a third and, while he eventually managed to, ByuN forced a lift on his third and natural, sending the series to a fifth game.
Bunny's hellions killed 13 of ByuN's workers, a total that was surpassed by a drop in ByuN's main that killed 23 more just as ByuN was re-establishing himself. Bunny paraded across the map to close out the match 3-2.
