ONPOONG, a StarCraft II channel run by the Korean GSL caster trio, recently put out a series of talk shows with top progamers in Korea to debate the current state of balance.
TY shined in his appearance, displaying a blend of self-deprecation and irrational hatred for the other races, and even made some actually reasonable arguments!
Anyway I whipped up some English subtitles for the two hour show, because I thought it was hilarious and entertaining (turn on closed captioning in Youtube). Enjoy!
(I took a ton of liberties in translation, and didn't do a proofreading pass. The show is 2 hours long, with over 2000 lines of dialogue, so it took me forever to even do this 'quick' version of the subtitles. I'll probably fix it slowly as people point out random mistakes. Oh well!)
First of all thank you very much for translating. Just watched the first hour and TY has some really good points, maybe Blizz should also watch this and see what they can do to improve balance.
Hey man, Thanks A LOT for this translation. I truly hope you get the appreciation you deserve because this is awesome man. Hope you have a great new year Waxangel!
It's quite funny how they don't know DnS at all and when TY showed off his first replay and it turned out to be Rail, I really laughed out loud. Then he went on to shit on Rail's simcity and compared him to a bronze player, lmao.
TY really came prepared, I think he convinced a lot of viewers during this show.
Edit: If TY still wants some info about Rail to know if it was a smurf or not, here is his aligulac page.
They should balance the game. Just give them. Seriously. Make it real. They know what they're talking about. This is the best content. It's smart, wise and funny, and also they speaking (and even playing) with viewers. I am deeply surprised and happy to see it. Just give them and we will see the best sc2.
lol so ty would face Innovation rather than a protoss foreigner he had never heard about :D this is great, thanks for subtitles. i am not following the scene as closely as before but this is quality content
Terran is nothing but weak and predictable now. You have to watch out for 3 things and you win, Cyclone proxy, Rax proxy, banshee proxy. So basically if you scout around your base you are guaranteed to compete with even world class terrans. You can see this in tournaments where currently midgrade European Protosses and Zergs are 3-1 3-0'ing literal S-class Terrans.
The game has never been more boring to watch, either. If a terran does happen to get ahead it will take 30 minutes to win using slow liberator pushes that make you wonder if life is actually worth living after all.

Bunny 5-2'ed DnS and 4-0'ed Serral in the PeopleImages Starcraft League.
IEM Katowice qualifiers had Terran do decently. If you exclude players who can't even qualify for GSL, they went 4-4 against Protoss and 2-2 against Zerg.
Why am I not surprised that TY's intentionally over the top complaints about terran on the 'Ultimate Whining Battle' brings all our resident terran balance whinersadvocates claiming that every word he says is gospel.

It's exactly the same as someone taking The Onion seriously without realising it's satire. Some people are just so biased that they cannot tell fact from fiction.
Just started to watch this show, hadnt had time before; and wth? its god damn amusing. i did not know these guys were actually funny. But they are... "Because it's MINE" thanks again for the translation. It would be much appreciated if someone could translate the others... no demand, just begging on my knees :>

In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.
At first I thought "2 hours, who the heck is going to watch this?"... Then I started watching and this is the best thing on the internet.... Agree or disagree with anything they say, its pure comedy gold
This was hilarious, and actually succeeded in validating my struggles as a Terran on ladder. Thanks for taking the time to translate this; I have no idea how long it took to do, but content like this is amazing to me
Anybody would do a better job than Blizzard at balancing this game. Their general strategy of these huge sweeping changes all at once is the fucking dumbest thing imaginable. They close their eyes and throw some Hail Mary’s and expect that maybe just maybe they will get things right once.

I know that they put care on balance, and they do it with the best intentions... but lately it feels like this, yes.

Should include the various wrist injuries of other well known Terran professionals throughout the years.

Might be easier to list the Terrans without wrist injuries
I blame this situation on terran themselves. They've been crying wolf since WoL and now it's hard to tell if their arguments are true . Also the "make mech viable" complaints made Blizzard forget about bio. All the changes go to those stupid no micro potential factory units, meaning that eitheir they will be op or up, because player skill doesn't come into play with mech.
This "Special's" phrase got my attention: "Zerg won't lose if they're good. Protoss is good even if they play mediocre." It seems to descibre this game since WoL.
I blame this situation on the people arguing "Mothership Core break RTS tenets" and all the protoss hater. So yes probably mainly terran who could'nt break protoss like glass on early game like in WoL times.
They felt forced to do another design patch, and this one suck hard. The game before 4.0 was truely good to me. Maybe some adjustments for PvZ oracles meta but that's all.
The new Recall does'nt allow for risky move out as the recall of the MCore did. Now the game is unbalanced as f***, P>T and Z>P , so it's kinda hard to adjust, and the new meta without bio seems just more boring : Less multitask, more turtle in both of my match up for both me and my opponents. Terran who win just slow push with Libs&Tanks (=>F U N) , Zergs need to be scouted flawlessly if you don't want to die on random early pressure, this advantage make them snowball the whole game and i hate this race again because i feel like they just inject & a-move.
People will argue again against Warpgate and the protoss race while with MC it was just fine. They will again think the 50-70 more totally brainless apm they got from spamming marines & zergling make them better player that should rolls over most toss player. Now the game is an a poor state to me, and you can only blame the Terran/Zerg blaming the Protoss race for "breaking fuking boring old school RTS tenets"

This is your brain on protoss. Don't do drugs kids!

did TY talk specifically about the lack of micro potential of factory units? I'm asking because I didn't watch the whole show, but very interested to hear a pro's thoughts on this. didn't hear a dickybird from pro terrans when the cyclone got gutted and lock-on removed.

At some point he says that there's a ceiling to what you can do with mech.
