250 dollars! Is this one of those items people are going to make lots of money off of? Anyone know how many are actually being sold? Am I wrong, or is this going to be like when people resold playstation 2/3, xbox 2, etc on ebay?
|
zomg i gonna buy one for sure but 250$ is alot :s
the statue itself really looks awesome

Statues dont resell like consoles. Theyre more of a collectible than anything else.

I maybe wrong, but I think collectibles are often the easiest things to resell if there are enough die-hard fans.

Well, they certainly try to make it sound like they're doing us a favor with this opportunity. I'm not sure if I'd go quite as far as you, but I do agree the thing is a bit strange.

damn, this IS a collectible. I thought it was like the original plastic collectibles, but this shit is gonna be for the true fans, so you'll need somewhere to put that 17 pound terran hotness. <hr> Also, they aren't shipping this thing to Korea, China, and Russia, so it looks like they will have to get theirs off ebay.
|
does anyone know how many statues are being made? i looked but cant find.. also they said "Do you have plans to create more collectibles based on the Blizzard universes? Yes, we intend to explore and support all the Blizzard universes with high quality collectible products sometime in the future."
i guess these ones wont be availabe in australia as well...
hmmmm aside from ebay is there any other way i can get my hands on one?

If someone lives in a place where they aren't available and really wants one, + Show Spoiler +I don't want one for myself so maybe I could buy one for you for an additional shipping/handling fee, pm me.
Depending on the number Blizzard makes, I wouldn't be surprised if they never have to use the 'waiting list' system they went out of their way to create.

I can't speak for Korea for sure, but as far as Russia and China goes,
the demand for this junk will be so low in Russia and China, that it's laughable to think about such a product selling well.
In America yeah, I can see this getting sold with enough hype, but probably nowhere near the number in Korea can be sold, even in relative numbers (for those with a short attention span, this means, the number of these figurines sold in Korea would be a good deal lower, than that of America, when factoring in their population Even with the Starcraft/Game hysteria, they won't sell as well as in America).

Well, I'm not rich or anything, not even close, but Starcraft is a big part of my life, so there will always be money to buy sc2, even if it costs $100.
I've had the same pc since 1999, and told myself I'd get a new one when Starcraft 2 was made, which I still plan to do.
I know 2 other people who are getting theirs tomorrow, unless they ordered it already.
|
I'm seriously thinking of picking this up...
I don't have the money right now, but considering how much time I've put into starcraft it would be worth it.

Speaking of WoW. I can't imagine how much potential profit there would be if Blizzard had made a collectable like this before releasing TBC or if they just had it for some kind of anniversary.

Will order one too, after I get my VISA card to work Have to "delete" my old card, before my credit card works, me thinks... But expensive shipping to Norway though, 255 incl shipping, EUROES. But I will definitly order one within the next few days.

and lol to you guys talking about reselling on ebay or buying it and shipping it to someone who can't order it where they are. Its 17 lbs. that is going to be a hell of a lot of Shipping and Handling fees.
PS- PuertoRican, Why would you buy that for 278$ ? Where are you going to put it? Why not just buy a poster for like 10 bucks?

If it was like a Zealot or some other protoss unit I would have most likely bought it.

A poster?
This is a collectible piece, not the same thing as just getting a poster, which I would never get.
I own the Zealot/Marine/Hydralisk from the Starcraft 1 collectibles they sold awhile back, and I want this item as well.
If you're into collecting things, especially for a hobby, you'd understand more.
It's kind of like asking me, why buy a Barry Bonds rookie card, when I can get his poster instead.

Wow 8 kg... And 18-inch tall that's like...freaking HUGE. It kinda explains the price too.

I collect shit. I currently have a collection of Jokers (from playing cards) thats getting pretty huge. I used to have a penny collection starting from 1909 (that my dad started) but Its lost currently :O . I also collected those state quarters I had the big map and shit too, I think my little sister jacked it though. I won't pay excessive amounts of money for adding items to any of these.
I have a bunch of spawn action figures in their boxes in my closet also, I bought them when they were brand new like 10 years ago.
To each his own I guess.
|
I want one but they cost too much.
|
I bought one of these. I own 2 sets of the original '98 set of 3 action figures and a case of the newer ones. In addition of to a coupla red war pig figures, my mint unopened orginal WOW collectors edition, a huge WOW box signed by tons of Blizz staff, and 2 of the WCIII statues used for trophies in the WC seasons, my collection's getting rather large :D
I'm pretty pumped for this piece even though it's pretty pricey.

Hmm I'm on the fence on this one. Probably won't end up buying it, I think I would actually be pretty embarrassed having that in my room now that I think about it...
|
The Tychus J. Findlay statue is now off of the "pre-order" list, and is now set to "waiting list", which means you might beable to get one, but it's not guaranteed.
The item has only been on sale for 3 days, they either didn't make a lot of the statues, or a lot of people got one, possibly both options.
|
I like to see one of these irl, but I don't mind too much not owning one. It'd be awesome when you get one, but over time i care less and less for things like these. I still have the hydra from SC1, but i never look at it anymore. And I don't like having so much stuff, my room is small enough.
|

When it went over to pre-ordering I toyed with the idea of buying one but sanity prevailed.
|
At first I thought the "statue" was just another figurine, but the sheer size and weight of it really does look cool. My apartment is very empty, and I think it'd make a perfect decoration on a desk or table somewhere. It'll be my homage to all the hours I spent playing SC
The $250 is indeed expensive, and that isn't counting the shipping, which could be another $50, but that's just another reason to buy them, lol..
I'm thinking of giving one or two away as promotion prizes for my SC2 forum, but am not sure how bad people would want them. Plus, they'd have to wait until October (if there are no delays) to receive them, so it'd be a bit of a wait.
Oops, just realized I wouldn't be able to buy two as you're only allowed one per person...
|
I'll wait for the chinese fake Statue for 9,99Euro.

wtf not shipping to korea is probably the stupidest thing i've heard koreans would gobble this all up with cash

Sorry for the bump, but it's sold out for both US and Europe. I was gonna order this when I saw this topic in the first place (may), but I didn't get my credit card untill a few weeks later, and then it was too late T_T So who here actually has preordered it, and anyone in Europe that might take a friendly chat about it with me =) ?

And the guy expects well over that amount for it too! (reserve not met) I had two hydras, and both heads fell off pretty easily.

Thats a very very fine statue you got there.

I bought one. And I have every SC action figure made etc. :D I love my stuff :p

Holy thread necro-ing Batman! I don't see any point of buying the statue at this point* as we know nothing about Tychus Findlay yet.

I didn't think this thing would sell out since it was so fucking expensive.
I'm surprised.

People are spending lots more than this on figurine games like Warhammer40k and LotR. Personally I have spent over 1500$ to build my space marine and tyranid army and I've seen people with armies worth over 10 000$. So 250 for that collectors statue is a very good price. If they dont make more of theese , you will have something very valuable in your hands. Worth alot more than what you paid for in the first place.

OT - I really have no interest in playing those warhammer games but getting the figures and painting them and shit is cool/fun. They cost way too much money though, and I have no where to put them. I once walked into a warhammer store with my GF and all the nerds looked so happy to see a girl.
