The regional qualifiers for WCS Valencia 2018 have concluded, determining the sixteen players to win flights, accommodations, and round-of-32 seeds at the upcoming WCS Circuit event. WCS Valencia will commence on July 12th, with the seeded players joined by dozens of contenders fighting up from the live, open qualifier (participant list TBD).
The qualifiers offered one major surprise, with Neeb losing 2-3 to fellow American Silky in the quarterfinals of North American Challenger, thus failing to earn a seeded a spot at Valencia. TRUE would end up taking first place in the NA qualifier. The remaining qualifiers offered few upsets, as Serral (Europe), SpeCial (Latin America), Has (Taiwan/East Asia), iAsonu (China), and Seither (Oceania) won their respective regions.
Heromarine had a super hard group with Serral and Namshar, which both ended up in the finals. I hope this doesnt lower his confidence again and we can still see him making a good run in Valencia.
I think it's fair to say Namshar's run was very impressive and a bit of a surprise no? Maybe at each tournament a new under-the-radar zerg will make a splash from now on (Lambo last time, Namshar this time maybe, then Zanster, SortOf?)

A player that won only ZvZs in the bracket to reach semifinals every WCS? Not unlikely

I agree, it's been a long time since I saw him get a similar result.
edit: And considering the somewhat severe nerfs to zerg around the beginning of the year I'm surprised that a. serral is still if not even more dominating, and b. Lambo and Namshar.

Zerg is my best race currently just due to ease of play. I feel like they should just get rid of the overlapping injects. The simplicity of macro just feels really dumb since any decent player is never going to get behind more than a single inject cycle.
If they don't want to go that route then slowing the creep expansion spread speed down but keeping the recession fairly quick might work. That way you'll at least have to wait a but to get max distance on your tumor similar to how it used to be.
Talked to some non zerg main former players and they feel the same

I feel a bit the same, creep just feel too fast to spread and remove itself too slowly.
I would also have a look on the queen, are they designed to be that many and to be so polyvalent? just questionning I dont really know but I dont like watching games where someone goes 7 queens to defend all pressure.
I kind of agree that mass queens and creep spread can make foreigner games pretty unpleasant to watch. Though if you want to do something about it there HAS to be compensation, considering how korean Zergs are struggling.

Honestly, seeing how far terran is going on GSL i would like some kind of zerg buff, maybe dont touching the hydras, the core unit so other strategies can be made against all races.
