They also come with an automatic sound cutoff, so when you take them off the sound stops playing which is amazing. They're very comfortable and I've worn them for many hours without having to take them off. Very durable, and solid, and quite baller looking, although they are quite large. I don't have that big of a head buff I have A LOT of hair (black afro) and they still fit me. Sound quality is top notch (that is what you get for $170 brand new, which is the reduced price since they've been on the market for awhile) though you should easily be able to get them from e-bay or some other discount site for <$150 brand new. The highs are amazing, mids are amazing, but the lows/bass are probably one of the best on the market. I originally got them for listening to hip hop so bass was really important, and these don't disappoint. They also block sound very well, if you have em on medium - high volume you can't here any outside noise. Comparable to noise-cancelling headphones. Highly recommended. Check em out here.

Not saying its a guarantee the HD555 will break, because I know people have had them last ages, but I wouldn't chance it if you have a big head.

It all depends on what you want though, and what type of music you listen to. Ultrasones tend to have a beautiful bass and are awesome for electronic but lack for other genres. Akgs are generally neutral and good for rock / jazz Beyerdynamic are good overall, and are really strong for rock / metal I have the AKG 240 mkiis which I got for $200 and I love them them, but I use them almost solely for music. Their bass feels a little recessed, so if you're a bass head, electronic, or rap fan then look elsewhere. Btw audio technica ad-700s are huge if u have a big head. My AKGs are also pretty big and extremely comfortable. The AKG k271 MKII's are excellent headphones. They are, but they're extremely similar to the akg 240s, and I'd recommend the 240s over them (although from what I could tell when I tried them the difference was very minute...just a slightly different sound signature (240s were more neutral, better mids, 271s had slightly harsher cymbals)
