You can plug your internet back in afterwards and log in (for some reason), but starting up with your internet enabled will freeze you.

the news message contains some strange codes or words that made your starcraft 2 crash and launching starcraft2 with no internet access prevents it. it really depends if your login speed is faster than your 'network'. if you can log in before the client download the news, you win. and if you log in, you can see no news. Too bad I didn't find this thread until I've already tried reseting my computer, shutting it down and flipping the switch in back for a full minute before booting it up again, uninstalling and then reinstalling, disabling all firewalls, and any other quick-fix I could think of. Those patches really ate a chunk out of my monthly download cap, but I'm still relieved that my video card isn't going bad or that my dorm manager didn't somehow block some required ports or something terrible like that.

Don't try to log in while your internet is down. Wait until you're sure it's back up after plugging the cable (or whatever you do to re-establish connection). They try to log in.

Reinstalling wont do you any good, we just have to wait for servers to get backup and blizz will prolly make some minor client adjustment. Edit : Some people are able to play whit that deco and reconnect gimmick

I'm having the exact same problem. I freaked out a little bit at first, restarted the computer and all, and still nothing. So it's a huge relief to hear I'm not the only one.

Weird thing is that my macbook is supposed to be waaay under-spec for the game compared to my desktop... Getting crappy graphics but hey at least I can play... Still waiting for Blizzard to get back to me.. Btw, I seem to have solved another of and on problem I was getting... While trying to load the game I'd get the occasional memory can't be read error (which I know is false as my ram is new n well, I did run a memtest as soon as I got the error). I solved it by increasing my vram from 2gb to 8gb.. Now at least I can get to the log-in screen but no further.. lol..
