As of November 16, whenever I open SC2 at all, a big black screen with a blue box in the middle says:
Attention Out the range H: 93.5Khz V: 74.9hz
(Yes, it says out the range, not out of range, :p) Now, as I am in the process of typing the content of this thread, I took a screenshot for you guys to see the box, but this shows up in the image, but not on my monitor!
I originally thought it was a video card driver issue, so I uninstalled (with many errors along the way) and reinstalled my driver, updated direct-x, and reinstalled SC2. Since nothing changed, and the image isn't showing up on my monitor, I think it may just be a monitor issue. I use a big old generic CRT.
Additional clues!:
~My other higher-graphics games (dragon age) are playing significantly slower (again, made me think video card), and SC2 has been running slower recently as well. ~When I open SC2, I get a message saying that Windows has changed my color scheme back to Basic Windows 7, and will change back when my program is off. ~My computer specs are all fine and dandy except the stone-age monitor 4.00 GB RAM 2.9GHz AMD Athlon II X3 435 Processor ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series video card Windows 7 64bit
I think the problem lies with your monitor. you could try a monitor with a higher refresh rate or a higher resolution. What could work too is to adjust the resolution manually (probably in the register of your pc, but you should ask someone with more knowledge than me for that). I had the same problem with C&C Generals
yea the message means either Sc2 is set to boot into a refresh rate your monitor cannot handle, or that its set to boot into a resolution your monitor cannot handle.
I dont know where it might be, but there is bound to be a config file for sc2 somewhere on your computer that you can investigate in order to change it.
What particular kind of monitor do you have? This issue is likely with your monitor's refresh rate. SC2 is apparently set to a refresh rate that is quite high.

My monitor is a very old generic CRT. When I find it in Devices Manager, It just says "Generic non-PnP Monitor"
And the refresh rate only goes up to 85 hz.
Also I forgot to mention that I did reinstall SC2 as well.
Definitely sounds like a monitor issue. The fact you can screenshot your login screen but can't see it shows the graphics card is fine your monitor can't handle the refresh most likely or for some reason SC2's refresh got set really high on accident.

Did it work before the reinstall?
No, I reinstalled SC2 in an effort to maybe set back my refresh settings or make something happen. Oh well, if it is a monitor issue I might as well look at getting a new one (a well overdue project).
One thing i could suggest trying. There seems to be a fix that works for some people. Is manually entering your Resolution into the Variables.txt file.
