I don't think it is silly at that a developer should allow applications to be routed to different custom outputs. It does not have to be manufacturer specific since windows or the sound driver handles all the outputs. Example would be having something like Last.fm routed to output 3 which would be two stereo speakers while SC2 could be routed to the default which could be surround sound. OP: I have used that app before on a win*64; it has worked for me, one thing I had to do though was to switch the Audio type in my bios. I wanna say it has to be switched to AC'97 compliant and not HD (but I could have that reversed)

The difference between the ac97 and HD is that under AC97 the front ports replicate the back ports. While the HD is all separate channels but another you could try is Virtual Audio Cable I have never used it before but by reading what it does it might be up your alley or I could be completely wrong http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.htm

What you mean was not even close to what you wrote. The whole thing about this is it to find a solution to be able to route audio of an application that does not have the option to. I had to reread the OP to see if I read it wrong; but I feel that it was pretty straight forward what he/she was trying to accomplish and with your first reply and then your rebuttal I think you should do the same.....
