I'm having a hard time choosing between these two headsets. I have quite a large head/ears so I'm looking to buy whichever one will be more comfortable for extended periods of time. Can anyone who has owned/used these two headsets give any information about them and why one is better than the other?
Thanks.

I have a Steelseries Syberia v2 and it's very comfortable and I wear them for many hours at a time. I haven't tried the Carcharias but I did used to have another Razer headset which broke after a month and wasn't that comfortable to begin with. It was one of their first models but after that experience I never purchased another headset from them, although I still use a Razer mouse, keyboard, and mousepad.

I have a Steelseries Syberia v2 and it's very comfortable and I wear them for many hours at a time. Since this is my opinion too.
buy the Steelseries.
btw chinya are u streaming right now?

I have the SteelSeries Siberia v2 and I have to say that the microphone quality isn't really up to par. Razer has really cheap build quality. If you want a high quality headset with a good sound and microphone go for Tt eSports headsets like the Shock One or Spin.
Well i have the raze carcharias and i wear it every day for hours and never had any problems with it, i can certainly recommend it ! I was really amazed with how comfortable it was when i put it on the first time but I guess both products are fine and in the end of the day it just comes down to your personal taste.
i have a steelseries and occasionally it hurts my right ear after about 10+ hrs of wearing them they are very clunky and hard to lie down in need to be perfectly straight the sound quality and passive sound cancelling is quite nice though i'm no audiophile these are the nicest headphones i've had can't speak to the razer gear but most likely because it's made by razer it has a short life hope this helped
oh and the cord is interesting it's really quite long but it basically just has an extension cable the cord that's connected to the headset itself it then plugs into the usb soundcard if you want to use it so the cord can get really really long i'd suggest tieing it in some way to avoid clutter and damage also the soundcard was nice because i couldn't fit a soundcard onto my mobo inside of the small case i have.
I've owned both...and honestly I have no complaints about either. The V2s had slightly better audio, and the Carcharias are slightly more comfortable. But only slightly.
IMO, which ever is cheaper. I'm not a fan of the flashy colors (white/red/orange), so go with black!
ss siberia v2 is riciculously comfortable, almost comparable to the ath a700s
The leather cups will keep your ears cool and dampen noise, but both headsets barely have any noise reduction. Some people complain about the carchaias mic, so, your choice. I have the v2 and i have no complaints about it.
I have the Siberia v2 after a year of use or so the sound controller the whire little box does not work well every time i try to change the audio levels it starts to make some weard noises and the mic does not work well. As for the comfort there realy good for long hours of playing im considering buying a Carcharias myself
I had both of them for a week and my choice was the Carcharias. At first I had some problems with my TS because of an echo. But the comfort is the biggest pro argument in the world. Every head fits. Really every!
The Siberia was quite nice too. Nice sound and mic quality but it really pressured my head after 2 hours wearing it(I wear glasses while playing).
Just comfortwise the Carcharias is the better one. There aren't any big problems, only the mic is a little bit too quiet without mic boost(shouldn't be a problem).
I hope I could help you

Thanks for all of the replies guys. I too wear glasses and I'm looking for a headset and these two are in my price range. On Amazon.co.uk, the V2 is £61.99 whereas the Carcharias is £69.20 but I also have a £7.50 off voucher so I could get the V2 for £54.59 or the Carcharias for £61.70. This small price difference doesn't mean much to me, I just want the headset with the best sound, mic and comfort out of the two.
Anyone else had experience with either of these headsets? I really can't decide between the two.
Coming from a gaming background, I can honestly say the Steelseries. I've used Razer headsets and I really don't think that highly of them. They're robbing their buyers with the price being that high.
I'd definitely go for the Steelseries Siberia V2. You'll never look back. Either way, if you don't get on with them, which well, you won't, you could send them back and then purchase the Razer headset. As said though, this won't happen.
Only problem is most UK retailers have told me that if I took a headset out of the packaging, tried it and didn't like it, I wouldn't be able to get a refund or exchange it for another headset.
Razer has great mice, but with all honesty they're headsets are subpar for the price. The Steelseries V2 is the best headset for the buck in my eyes. Happy hunting.
Do you use the V2 or have you used the Carcharias by any chance?
Looking for a few more opinions before I make my final decision.
The Siberia wins between these 2 for gaming purposes, but I suggest audio-grade headphones with a separate mic if you want to use your set for anything other than gaming. Gaming headsets do not have good sound for music.
I L O V E my Siberia's. They fit my head so perfectly, they barely feel like they are there, you can wear them for hours, the sound is amazing. They come with a very long cable, and a volume adjuster w/ disconnect. They look wicked too ^^
The only thing you may or may not like it they are not noise cancelling. I personally like this cause while on skype or talking to someone in my room I dont yell and can hear outside noises.
edit: they come with a detachable mic, or if you want the "better" Siberia V2 it comes with the mic attached to the headset and I think a usb?
Yeah, it's the Siberia V2's that I was looking at.
Siberia v2 waaay over the razer pair (unless megalodon which have a pretty nice sound card)
I don't know why you would buy anything audio related from either of these two companies to be honest.
Because I'm looking for a all-in-one headphone and mic solution that isn't some sort of DIY-attaching-a-mic-to-a-pair-of-headphones mod and one that won't cost me an arm and a leg.
I <3 my Siberias. Pick them!
Any particular reasons you like them or any features you find useful?
Corsair HS1's without a good audio card, Psyko Krypton with a decent audio card. Seinheissers with a 200$ audio card.
Is the siberia really that bad for music, i listin to music while i play so im wondering.

I don't get why someone would post a comment like this without posting a recommended source to buy something audio related. I know something you guys don't, but I wont tell you so you can't confirm or deny it!
Siberia V2's, I've owned the carcharias for 1 year before getting the piranhas, and now I have the siberia V2's and I'll never buy another headset from anyone else. only downfall to any true noise canceling headsets is the heat over your ears, but if you live somewhere cold, it wont matter
edit: they arent bad for music, I listen to rap/dubstep/rock/metal/screamo, everything sounds solid, no staticy sounds and it hits the highs and lows pretty well, but its mostly for noise canceling, so i'm not going to be extremely picky over it
Take my opinion with a grain of salt, as I haven't personally used either. However, much like you I've been gathering data for some time and pretty much everything I've seen suggests the Siberia's are a great buy, while Razer has pretty serious QC issues.(With their headsets.)
I've bought 2 headset from steelseries (siberia v1 and 5hv2) and I don't recommend them and any of their product to anyone to be honest. The only product I recommend buying from them are either the 7g or 6gv2 keyboard because they are well built. Other than that, all their products are extremely cheap made, some way too overpriced and broke way too often. Not sure if the siberia v2 are way better than the normal version but the v1 broke so easily it was pathetic. The metal wires that holds the top of the headset is screwed in some plastic on the side of the headset by only 1 tiny screw, and if it breaks you're screwed. The headset will still work but without the top of the headset, it won't hold on your head. It might still hold, but only by the earcups, so it might be really annoying. That's exactly what happened with mine. I've try to repair them without any success so they went to garbage lol. And from what i remember, the sound quality wasn't so good but get the job done in games and the mic was total crap lol (btw the mic wasn't the retractable one). But that was from the v1, i can't say if the v2 is better overall but I'm pretty sure even if the sound and mic are better, the headset is made exactly like the v1. Ho and I can't deny that they are really comfortable tho.
For the Razer Carcharias, I've never tried one myself that much (only tried one in a Best Buy), but imo the sound quality is near or probably the same as the siberia v2. They seem to be hard to broke compare to the steelseries. No tiny screw that might put your headset into 2 pieces. As for the mic, some people had problems with it but the same goes for the steelseries so i can't say much on it. Those are really comfortable too, maybe a little bit less than the v2.
If you are able to put more money on it, i would recommend to buy either the Creative Sound Blaster Arena, I've bought one couple of months ago and they are totally awesome for the price. The sound is awesome and sooo loud with some good bass (compared to siberia v2 or the Razer Carcharias) and the mic so far is crystal clear and it's detachable. It has some pretty good noise reduction too if you like that feature. I actually can't understand people talking in my room if I play with these. It is usb and have some "virtual" 3D positional surround sound but some people don't like it or don't want to spend extra money for having those features. Or, you could buy the Corsair HS1 like Phayze said. They are about the same price range as the Sound Blaster Arena and so far, I've only saw some good review for it.
Anyhow, if you still wanna choose between the Razer or the Steelseries, i would go with the Razer Carcharias for sure as I've never had good experience with steelseries products (bought wayyy to many of their crap lol) and I can't say 1 negative thing about every razer products I own so far (using mouse and keyboard from them). But to be clear, I've never really try Razer headset to forge myself a solid opinion.
ps. srry if I may sound weird sometimes, my english is far from perfect My apologies if some have troubles reading me. I'm trying my best.
I was also in this predicament a month ago. V2 vs Carcharias. The V2 is actually more popular but by checking a whole lot of reviews they are actually even in performance and comfort. So finally I got a Carcharias 'coz I already have a razer DA and a razer BW just to complete the set. So go with whichever you like, by brand, looks, or anything. You'll be contented with either.

Exactly, funny how some pro gamers need to almost downgrade their gear after getting sponsored by one of these two...
Neither. They both suck equally. Go to headfi.org for actual headphones.
V2s have a nice retractable mic, Razer has a ginourmous addition on the side, I've used both, and I have to say they're pretty even in terms of comfort/quality but the mic was a huge bonus for me.
If you actually want good sound quality get a nice pair of REAL Headphones from a good company (sennhieser, grado etc) and accompany it with a nice table mic. Razer and steelseries headphones are grossly overpriced and look like they are designed for prepubescent girls
I have the Razer headset. It is good, the sound quality is what you expect from the price.
But saying these things I won't buy it again as i dont like how it sit on my head haha. it falls off easily when i go to bend over and pick something up. Fucking annoying.
Id go with the steel series. get USB tho
The Siberia V2 is extremely comfortable. I would definitely recommend it. Retractable mic, 7.1 surround sound.
If I had the space/room for a separate mic, I would buy some headphones and a desktop mic but I don't, so I'm looking for a headset. I know Sennheiser has better audio quality than the two, but my budget can't stretch that far I'm afraid.
Ive had the Siberia V2's for around 2 months now, and overall i get quite a mixed set of reviews. For me personally they do not fit my head as snug as they should, especially at the start when they were not worn in, they distribute all the weight and pressure of above my ears and now below so it would hurt after even 2 hours of usage. Also, if you have longish hair ive noticed that it actually blocks the earmuffs from going all around your ear so im constantly having to push my hair up and ears in.
On the plus side however, i think the quality of sound and construction is excellent, easily the best headset ive owned in that respect and the band style adjustment is good for easy on and off.
Having said that when i dont need to use my mic, i often find myself switching to my in ear headphones for comfort around my ears and head.

Because I don't understand why people look to gaming companies to buy audio equipment. If you don't care too much about sound and want something inexpensive, you can probably get that from either of these two companies. For a lot of people this is fine. It works well. Just buy whatever fits on your head the best and go with it. If you are looking for sound quality, making a blind purchase for headphones from a gaming company just doesn't seem like the greatest idea. Maybe my comment was inappropriate for what the OP was looking for though, and if so... ignore me.

Siberias are super comfortable, and my head is so big I have to try and resell an XL skiing helmet that I bought online because its too small. I've worn them 10+ hours at a time with no issues.
I obviously do care about sound quality but not as much as comfort. I have quite a large head and ears but short hair so I don't know which one will be best for me as the returns policies on Amazon, eBuyer etc. with headsets isn't that good because they won't let you return a headset if you've opened it/used it, even for 1 minute. I have a Turtle Beach X11 and it kills my ears like mad.
EDIT: I don't mean to sound like a horrible person, but I'm more interested in those who've tried/owned these headsets that have a large head and/or ears so that I can get some sort of rough idea on how comfortable it's going to be.
I personally love my siberia V2s. Havent used the other headset you listed but ive had a few headsets in my time and most of them have hurt after only a few hours because i wear glasses. I havent had this problem at all as of yet with the V2s, so i definatly recommend them. Sound quality is good for the price, and ive never had any complaints about my mic volume/quality from friends on any VoIP. If the V2s are cheaper id 100% go with them.
I can get the Siberia V2 for £54.50 and the Carcharias for £60.20. I wear glasses as well. Either way, whichever headset I get will have better SQ than my Turtle Beach X11's so it's a case of finding out whether they will crush my big noggin and ears or not
I recently bought a pair of the Siberias. Out of all the headsets I have owned, these have by far been the best without a doubt. There's a lot of nice little features and you can tell a lot of thought has gone into designing these.
I'd much rather get some Sennheiser HD555/595's. Much better audio quality. 555's cost like 80 bucks on amazon, and I believe you can do a real easy mod to make them sound pretty much the same as the 595's. Amazon also has like clip on microphones for like 20 bucks.
I've used clip-on mic's before and I don't particularly like them.
I hate being so indecisive..Amazon's returns policy doesn't help either.
Any gaming headset will be inferior to a set of real headphones at the same price range. If you aren't really worried about sound quality then they are fine but it's better to get a nice pair of headphones and an external mic if you are concerned about sound quality.
Either the sennheiser hd555's, ad700's or jvc ha-rx900's will give you MUCH better sound quality than these two. The reason you see everyone wearing these at tourneys is because pros are sponsored by some of these companies so nerds will overpay for these products. Just be weary of anything advertised as a "gaming" product. Just think about it, the reason people use siberias or carcharias isn't because word of mouth got around that they're awesome products, it's because people see everyone at lan's wearing them and assume they're the best.
People can do what they want with their cash but I don't like seeing people throwing money away. If you've never used a decent set of headphones before, these will sound great to you but do your research of try some others out and don't blindly buy into the hype .
EDIT: Sorry if I'm being unhelpful. Out of these two I would pick the razer carcharias, they have really good reviews and can be had for 34.99 at tigerdirect (enter coupon DJP30877). Coupon saves you 35 which reduces price from 69.99. For $35 you definitely won't find anything comparable with an included mic. I've used the siberia's and they're really nothing special as far as sound quality. IF mic is not important then JVC ha-rx700 will have better sound quality for the same price, though it's not really suitable to wear in public .
feeling disapointed right now,
i just bought steelseries siberia v2 and the sound quality is worse than a pair of skullcandy earbuds, will these eventually wear in because right now it sounds awfull.
however, they are very very comfy. I got large ears and a medium/large head they fit snuggly inside the headset. They arent heavy and you dont really feel like you are wearing a headset, usually i find that they slip off my head easily(skullcandy etc), or weigh heavy on my ears (philips etc) though i dont have this problem with the sibera V2,
i cant compare sound quality to sennheiser or razor as i havent owned a pair of those. ill edit this post in the future and give a verdict on them after a month or so.
EDIT: seems i didnt need to wait a month, the sound worn in already and sounds really really nice, was playing THIEF: Deadly shadows earlier and there is some surround sound to it, obviously not 7.1 quality but i could tell where people/footsteps were comming from.
I just bought siberia v2 and i gotta say that these are the best earphones i have ever used. Sound quality is awesome, and these have some very unique mechanic to make it very comfortable on your ear, i have never seen anything like this before. Also the built in microphone is very handy. These are pretty expensive but you should definetly invest some more money for better quality.
Hey im looking for a set of headphones that have good sound quality for music(I listin to almost all music), and a mic. What are some suggestions?
I have an original Siberia from way back before Steelseries bought the company that made the headset. It's like, 7 years or something old and still fucntioning perfectly. The only thing not working properly is the extended jack, due to it having the seperate volume control where the wire apparently is now loosened.
RAZER!!! Dude, it should be simple. They support TL, therefore you should select RAZER because part of it will go to TL
As much as I'd like to support TL, I'm not going to buy a (potentially) inferior headset.
Hey Mackem, I am in the same situation as you! I went ahead and bought both so here's what I have to say:
Note: I play Counter-Strike: Source and Starcraft 2 on a daily basis, and tested both of these for more than 2 weeks.
Looks: Your Choice - just the headband suspension and all white is wicked. Though the Carcharias has the "professional" low profile look to it.
Headset Quality - Pretty Even - Siberia V2 is lighter, but has a much lighter, hollow, and plastic feel to it. The Carcharias has a nice finish to the plastic that gives it a texture, and is more solid, but is a bit heavier. Both have a black metal mesh pattern on the back of the headset cups. The Carcharias has a sturdier inline volume/mic controller with a clip + braided cable.
Sound Quality: Your Choice - Much better bass on the Carcharias than the Siberia V2, treble is about the same. Both are 2.1 headsets but SteelSeries sells a 7.1 virtual surround sound in-line usb soundcard if you want to shell out some extra money.
Mic + Quality: Siberia V2 - The mic quality is better on the Siberia V2, but not by far. It wins by design though. The retractable mic is much sturdier than the Carcharias's mic. Noise canceling is even on both mics.
Earcups: Your Choice - The Siberia V2 has leather cups. This blocks out more outside noise than the cloth cups, but can get uncomfortable on long uses due to the lack of air around your ear and skin. The Carcharias has cloth cups, which are more comfy against your skin than leather and you have more "breathability", but allow more noise in from the outside. they're much better for long term use. Also note that the Carcharias's cups attract dirt, dust, etc.
Fit: Siberia V2* - The suspension headband is neat, and decreases the weight of the headset. It will rest the headset on your ears automatically & perfectly. The Carcharias is easy to set as far as height. I slides up and down metal rods that have enough friction to slide and stay put at the same time.
*IMPORTANT: The Siberia V2 is slimmer than the Carcharias, and has smaller earcups than the Carcharias. So if you, as you stated, have a bigger than average head and bigger than average ears (much like myself) then don't get the Siberia V2, it simply won't work out for you.
As I'm posting this, I'm wearing my Carcharias. My verdict is that they are both dead even. I listen to music a lot, watch movies, and play games competitively. I think the Siberia V2 is much cooler than the Carcharias, but it doesn't fit me, and I wasn't very happy with the bass but wouldn't mind that much. The Carcharias was a perfect fit for me, and is great for music and movies. You get what you pay for, and the Carcharias is a smidge more expensive than the Siberia V2
So if you:
Have larger than average head/ears, listen to music/watch movies on your computer and require deep(er) bass, like the color black, prefer cloth earcups - Get the Razer Carcharias
Have a average size head/ears, like other colors (white, blue, red, + black), are looking for a headset with a "cool" factor, prefer leather earcups - Get the Siberia V2
Mackem, I say in your case, get the Carcharias because what may end up happening is that you get the Siberia V2, suffer from a lot of headaches because of the tight fit around your head, and then buy the Carcharias.
I wish there was a Siberia V2 Wide edition with larger earcups. I'd rock that along with the 7.1 virtual surround sound card and trash my Carcharias! But there isn't so I voted Carcharias on the poll.
50mm drivers on the Siberia are going to make lots of bass and weak highs and mids. The Carcharias has 40mm drivers to give excellent mids and good bass and highs as well. If you are not an audiophile and listen to a lot of rap or dubstep, consider the Siberia but for games or if you are not of the opinion that more bass= better sound quality then the Carcharias is the way to go.

Wow, thanks for the reply. I have Turtle Beach X11s and my ear lobe slightly hangs out of the bottom of the earcups when I extend them to the fullest, so I'd imagine the Carcharias won't do this?
