Hello,
I have had this laptop for just over two years now, and the warranty has expired (or I would just take it back to be fixed/replaced). The right hinge on the monitor's connection to the rest of the case seems to have a serious issue that I just noticed when I attempted to close the laptop, and the casing around the hinge broke (split). I can't post photos as I do not have a digital camera.
The laptop still works just fine, performance is still good, but the casing is damaged pretty badly near that hinge and it cannot be closed (I don't want to risk trying, I'd likely cause a lot more damage).
Is there a way to fix this problem without replacing the laptop or spending a large sum of money on it? I need to be able to transport this laptop regularly, and in its current state, it can't be moved.
I would appreciate any help anyone can offer.

I don't quite understand what has happened to the hinge, and I'm having trouble finding pictures of the hinges of your laptop that are visible (Most are all black in shitty lighting)
BUT from what I can see, if the laptop still works fine, you could just replace the plastic yourself?
Turn everything off and remove the broken bits of plastic, then place PVC plastic to replace it
Although, I wouldn't expect bringing it to a local repair shop to be TOO expensive

Well, the issue isn't just the plastic around the hinge, it's the hinge itself too. The plastic broke because the internal hinge is broken.
The hinge is completely inside a large horizontal plastic casing that covers both hinges, it's broken on the right side.

Yeah, I got my hands on a dv6 at futureshop today, those things are not built to last. Whoever designed those hinges is an utter moron. The showmodel's hinges were shaking when I picked it up
You'll need to just get it replaced. You might be able to just get a local computer shop to do it
