I agree. And the board does look friggen amazing. Hope you like it

Hey, I'm looking for a mechanical keyboard for Christmas. I really like the DasKeyboard, afaik it got some kind of a glossy surface what I really don't like. Can anyone give some feedback about this? I also would like to have basic multimedia keys for changing the PC's volume. I don't need macro keys and stuff but a numblock is also a must have.
The razor black widow seems to fit at some points but I dislikee all the (for me) useless macro keys and backlite stuff.
Any recommendations? Thanks!

Random note, but the Thermaltake Meka is on sale for $60 here. Buy it while it's cheap if you like cherry black switches

Holy shit. That is awesome.
I got the MK 80 (with blues) and the keyboard is really nice and robust. Feels like a true mechanical keyboard. Highly recommend Qpad!

There aren't that many boards with media keys. Just bind some keys you don't use to volume up and down with a program like sharpkeys or autohotkey. So perhaps get a Filco? It really depends whats available in your area so you don't get hit with shipping fees.

You can get the Filco camo version and it has multimedia keys. Quality wise Filco will be one of the top choices for mechanical keyboards. Like the above post there are many programs that will do this function for you if you go with another keyboard.
For quality, Filco, Rosewill, and Leopold are all great choices. Das make good keyboards if you can stand the glossy surface, but you did state you did not like that.

Damn those qpad keyboards seem awesome. Too bad I just got myself a zowie celeritas like 2 weeks ago, would've preferred one with a decent wrist rest. Other than that, this keyboard is awesome as well tho!

Just how is 7G for 80£ a good deal when you can buy them in every finnish store for like 70€ o_o
80£ for the worst mechanical gaming board ever created is, in my opinion, a total ripoff
And yeah zowie celeritas is probably ok but they're not with cherry reds so I've never been interested

Can anyone give some feedback about this? I The glossy surface isn't as bad as some people make it out to be unless you're putting your fingers directly on the surfaces around the keys (which I don't happen to do). I've had this keyboard for awhile now and the glossiness has been fine; at worst, it might pick up pieces of dust here and there, but the included cloth fixes that just fine.

Adding qpad to the OP. It has the same design as the xarmor had.
Edit: Also, anyone know why geekhack.org is blocked for malware?

Hey guys, I've had a Saitek 2 keyboard for roughly 4-5 years now but it just decided to start dieing on me.
a few keys like next song f8 died and i was hoping it'd last until christmas before anything significant stopped working, but last night spacebar died on me
so i guess it's time for an upgrade!
I'm looking for a Backlit keyboard, with basic multimedia (last song, next song, stop, play and volume) as their own independent buttons.
however i also want one with a 3.5 headset input with a little on board sound card so i can separate my razer carc headset so i can have vent coming through my headset with game sound out my stereo.
Is there any Mechanical keyboard available that meets these? and i'd probably prefer something like the cherry brown switch. Something similar to the Logitech G110

If you want a mechanical you are going to have to compromise on some of these requirements.
First off independent media keys aren't an option. Best you can get are modified F keys.
So if you can settle on modifed media keys then there is: Black Widow Ultimate (BWU) (Comes with blues, unless you order browns from Razers site) The Qpad quoted earlier on this page (only comes with reds backlit, others without backlighting) Corsair K90 (reds again, no jack) Steelseries 7g (no backlighting, only blacks) TT Mecha G unit (no backlighting, only blacks) (There are a couple of TT boards with or without macro keys etc) Ducky Shine (no jack, but possibly the best quality here) XArmor U9BL-S
XArmor seems like your best bet if brown switches are a requirement. Or the BWU stealth edition (browns).

Choosing a switch is about preference and game style. Linear switches are less forgiving for RTS and typing and more suited to FPS gaming, but reds are having a surge in popularity because of their feel across the board. Honestly, if you don't have a mechanical and see a deal, buy one anyway. They have great resale value if you are unsatisfied.

i dont know too much about the ducky but i recently purchased a Das S Silent. I freaking love the thing. Great feel and it looks sexy as hell. I previously bought the clicky version of the model S but it was a little too loud for the home and when the family was around. The silent version still has it's noise but no where near as loud as the clicky model.
