About a week ago the left can of my Serbia v2 Red just stopped working for no reason. The mic still works but no audio comes out at all. My question is, is there a simple fix to correct this (Re-soldering, maybe re-connecting a wire or jerry-rigging a new path) or is this headset as good as dead?
Has anyone else ever come across this problem with their own pair of Serbias or with a different brand? A google search didn't really reveal anyone else who has come across this issue. If suspecting rough treatment or something along those lines, I rest these on top of my tower and have never been dropped or anything.
Thanks for the help!

It's Siberia, not serbia :D
And yes they die. Just move over shitty from badquality Steelseries crap.

What would you suggest using then instead of steelseries? Razer?

sennheiser 5x5 series
mine are like 4 years old and still look and work exactly like the day i bought them. you will need a separate mic for those though.

The Siberias have always been pretty sketchy in regards to randomly stopping working and such.. I have been through 3 different sets of them.. The sound went out on my oldest pair (the first version of them back when they were made by Icemat).. And now I have a SteelSeries Siberia V2 (Red) headset.. And the sound periodically just stops working on the right side completely.. And that started happening after only using them for like 4 months. They are amazing sounding headphones.. But the build quality is really questionable.
This will be the last pair of Siberias I use.. My next headphones I get after these ones coming up here is going to be SteelSeries 5H v2's, or something by Sennheiser. As much as I like the comfort of these and the sound.. I can't keep putting up with them randomly going out like that.
I definitely would advise anyone to avoid getting Siberias.

5Hv2 also has that problem fyi, I went through two pairs before saying fuck you to SteelSeries.

I have had my Blue Siberia V2's for over a year with no problems whatsoever. As far as i can tell from mine, there is no easy way to get inside the headset without completely destroying it, so i think you'll just need to get a new one.How long did you have the headset and how well did you treat it?

On a side note, I also had a xai for about a year and a half with no problems and decided to upgrade to the sensei when it came out. Recently got a 6gv2 as well and it's built like a tank. Steelseries doesn't make crap, you probably had a bad experience and jumped to that conclusion much too quickly.

Corsair 1500's are pretty good if your on a 100 ish budget.

I have had that happen with multiple headsets, it is a mend-able problem if you know what you're doing. If you really can't afford a new headset then go ahead and try to fix it, otherwise it isn't worth the trouble.

I've been on Steelseries gear for quite some time now and I just need a good excuse to get rid of it all... In terms of headsets I was really impressed with the Logitech G35 my friend owns as the volume is SO much better than my Siberia V2 whites. There was also less sound leak from the G35 and the mic was much clearer and didn't have any issues when I first plugged it on, although you couldn't hid it like the V2 (which after a while I came to realize was the dumbest feature to put money on...)
I can't comment on Razer headsets asides from the Banshees that a friend of mine owns, those things are really big...

Can't comment on Razer headsets? I can do that fo you!
They're pretty good when they work, then they don't work. My sample size is only 6 sets of Razer Carcharias across 3 people including myself.
1: Died after 13 months. (Out of warranty) 2: Died after 14 months. (Out of warranty) 3: Died after a year or so. (Out of warranty, he bought another set) -> 4: Died after 3 months 5: Died after a month 6: Up and running for 2 months (going to fail soon?) Does this mean those headphones break a lot? Probably, even though my sample is tiny... Are the headphones bad? I'm guessing not all of them are.
I suggest Sennheiser (verified baller headsets for gaming - very expensive and only worthwhile if you have a good sound card) or Corsair (up and coming, seems to have pretty decent prices for gaming headsets).

cosair 1500's... good quality 2 year warranty. Corsair stands behind there products.

IMO, having a bad experience with their products more often than a good one, you can say that their products are crap. I'm glad that you liked your Xai and even your Sensei, but everyone who knows a lil bit about those 2 mice know that they have some problems such as bad tracking on some surface, negative/positive acceleration and such. Those mice are extremely overpriced too. Overprice + problems = bad for me.
Yes some of their products will last longer than others, but I know way to many people who bought the Siberia v2 and broke after 1 or 2 years, even faster sometimes. Just look at how their headset is made and you can clearly see its cheap and easily breakable even tho its really comfy and sound decent like other gaming headset. Like you said, there is no easy way to get inside the headset without completely destroying it and for me, this shows how crap this product is.

i had my siberias for four years until they broke while I was moving
steelseries has great quality products, the only thing I've ever disliked by them is the kinzu, and apparently that was just ripe with issues when they released it
every single time I've had a problem with anything steelseries, I contact their tech support and they help me out, or I end up getting something new from them, they're a fantastic company

I have owned two Steelseries, right now the white V2 and it's good, though my head is xbox huge so it's not exactly optimal. But I'm happy with them. Last one I gave away cause I needed to upgrade when I got skype, it still works just fine and I bought it like 4 years ago.
Keep away from Razer though, I've also had bad experiences with their products. Mice dying, headsets friends got, also died, etc. I got a MX518 and it's been performing rock solid since 2007. Logitech <3

I had my V2 Red for about 3 months and I treated them perfectly. Never threw them down or handled it roughly at all. Before this pair I had a Razer Carcharias and the left side stopped working on those after about 6 months (that pair did get dropped a few times). I love the comfort that the v2 has and if this issue is this spread out across the Siberias then I may just go and buy another Plantronics 367 that I used to have a long time ago.
If anything, I'd say my price point for a new headset would be around 80$ which is what I got my Siberia Red for.

I've had like 4 steelseries headset, all dying for no reason.

I had mine die 1 month after the warranty ran out. SteelSeries went ahead and gave me a new pair after sending them in. My problem was with the volume in the left ear being slightly lower then the volume coming through the right ear.
This was about a year after I bought them. Since then no problems what so ever. I love the quality, and have had no real mic issues.
