so jealous. want this monitor guess ill keep waiting

Main monitor from 2005 is finally dying lol....
I got $150 to spend. I guess I could wait till black friday, but since its my main monitor would prefer not to. I got a radeon 6770. I run 1 main monitor, and a 1920x1080 lcd tv as my 2nd.
The main monitor will sit directly in front of me, not move at all. I don't care about gloss or finish. I just want a good picture and response. The most demanding things I do these days is watch HD movies or play dota 2. I guess TN is all I can afford, I don't really care which technology it is. I've been using a square monitor since 2005, I don't mind a widescreen 20-23inch now.
Any recs? Thanks a lot appreciate it.

Hm...
Actually I got some additional funds. Somewhere in the range of $250-280. Do Dell Ultrasharp U2312HMs usually drop to this price range? I see skyR said they always do black friday sales. That's not too far away.
Edit: + Show Spoiler [Description of my monitor problem in c…] +So I've had this same monitor since 2008. It's a LG Flatron L2000CE. Very old. Anyway, I always leave my computer on but turn off my monitors at night. Since about a week ago, I turn it on in the morning and the blue power light LED just blinks. If I look directly at the monitor I can tell its blinking in shades of black. Basic googling and common sense tell me its either just very old and time to die or a broken capacitor. The only test monitor I have is another old and shitty lcd. Except this old shitty one uses VGA. I plugged that one up and it works but the monitor was purple. Probably cuz its been sitting in a dusty corner forever.
I think it's not my graphics card because I literally ordered a new refurb one like a month ago. It's a 6770. When I turn on my computer, my LCD tv which is my 2nd monitor displays through the HDMI port flawlessly. No weird colors or flashing or anything. My DVI port may be the problem but its a very small chance. It could be a cable problem I guess. The cables old too. Anyway through various methods I get my main monitor to turn back on. After some hours the display just decides to work or after I replug the connection multiple times it'll come up. And when it does it works just like normal. Its just that if I ever turn it off it repeats the problem.

U2312HM retails for $300 so yes it will drop below $250. It was $220 or something like that during last year's Black Friday.

A lot of the time, the price from the Dell store is $230-250, with coupon or even just the list price there. $300 is higher than usual.
A typical price from a top-rated eBay seller is around $220 shipped.

So is there a reason people [ and me ] aren't just buying that one instead of waiting in-between holidays for dell sales? Seems to have a warranty as well.

Peace of mind. Plus there won't be any complications if you ever need to RMA.

Dell has one of the most flexible return/swap out policies in the world. You see panel tinting, stuck pixels, or heavy backlight bleeding? You can probably swap the monitor with Dell provided you've bought the monitor straight from them.
When Dell monitors with coupons are around the same price, or a little bit more, why wouldn't you buy straight from Dell? Such aftermarket support is fantastic once you actually get into a situation where you have to use it.
|
The little extra is because I need a monitor asap. I went ahead and bought the ebay one.
It has a warranty...The manufacturers warranty, so I don't understand that argument. Is it because I have to prove proof of invoice? The warranty listed is through october 2015. I don't see any reason why I can't use the Dell RMA system seeing as how it comes with the Dell warranty.
Anyway thanks for the recommendation.

Radeon HD 5000 series and newer can handle 3 (or more) outputs, but only 2 total that are not DisplayPort (Mini DisplayPort).
GeForce 600 series (the Kepler models, which is most of them) can handle 3 or more outputs, but not so for 500 series and prior.

I'm using a radeon 7950, i'm using the HDMI output for my main screen, a DVI cable with a mini displayport adapter, and a normal DVI cable.

Any idea what the problem is?

Please anyone know how i do this?

I just got my Asus pa238qr monitors and I have no complaints. I haven't really done much gaming on them so far., but they seem really good. I was wondering if anyone had some good settings for it or is good at the factory default settings?

Adjust trace-free to 40 or 60. That's about it.

Hey guys, I'm thinking about getting the Asus VS228H-P as it's $30 off on Amazon, but what do you guys think? Is there another monitor near the same price that's better? And should I just still wait a bit longer for that lucky deal on a good monitor? Any recs?
