85c is obscene temp for bulldozer, from what i hear you should be like 40-45c for stress testing. 85c is too hot for intel CPU's, which are much much more heat tolerant. Gaming+Streaming wont push up your temperatures nearly as high as stress test, so you must have pretty big issues. Are you using the stock cooler? What about case fans etc? If all of your thermal paste really dried up then that could cause your issues but it seems pretty odd for that to happen, thermal paste has a usage life of years.

You will want to try a lower resolution first. Assuming you're playing in 1080p, try streaming at 960x540 with quality at 8 and bitrate at 1000 I dont know why you would give this advice again. Its good to give some, but the quality balance settings are basically awful in streaming programs, i wouldnt suggest using them to almost anyone. 1280x720@30fps is extremely easy (less than half of the load of 1920x1080@30fps), so you dont need to drop resolution that far, and even if you did, there is no reason not to use like 3mbit bitrate. Blu-rays use 50mbit for 1920x1080@24fps - you can very clearly benefit from going much higher than 1mbit if you have the bandwidth for it (OP does)

Thankfully the technician should be over tomorrow/day after to clean it out and hopefully fix things. I'm still under warranty so I don't want to open my laptop up myself.

Laptops are built poorly, and a 2'nd/3'rd gen i5/i7 isnt going to freak out too badly at 80-90c short term. A bulldozer CPU would. Overheating issues are extremely common with any kind of performance on a laptop too. They are basically designed to be small and quiet, to suit the majority of consumers who want that and/or dont know any better, with no regard for actually being able to USE the hardware that they are build around. You could increase the size/weight/noise by 20% to cut temperatures by a very large margin, but nobody wants to do that, and most of them wont notice the fatal flaws of having high performance parts squashed into a too small and inadequately cooled area. You might want to look at Throttlestop (IF you can use it to lower your CPU frequency, dont use it otherwise as it will just make you hit thermal shutdown) or similar programs for GPU for underclocking. You can get temps down pretty far that way if you know what you are doing, at a my-pc-is-no-longer-dieing-so-it's-ok performance penalty.

My PC: 8G RAM Nvidia GeForce GTX 670 INTEL CORE i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz My Internet: http://www.speedtest.net/result/2396991789.png If someone could give me some examples of what by "Bitrate" and "Buffer Size" should be on it would be awsome! Im currently using "5" on Quality and 2500/2500 on the others. Also Anything that could explain why one could get FPS drops ? Thanks !

Thermal paste drying up is normal and no problem. All the paste is supposed to to is smooth out the surface on the cooler and the CPU.

when streaming with obs and closing obs and resuming the game without closing it...game goes to 29fps (normally 60fps) even at start of the game, constant 29 fps ~~ have to quit sc2 and restart it to get it back to normal, happens since i updated from 3 weeks old version to up2date version (stable version)

Thanks again for this great guide, I've been recommending it to everyone who asks about streaming software! What's better? If you are citing performance im kinda curious to see some controlled benchmarks from other people

I use OBS and Xsplit and i have put many hours of my time into understanding the smaller details of how a lot of things work, and into benchmarking a lot of different things as well. Are you referring to my posts a week or more ago? I have some 50 posts/week and no idea what you are talking about specifically.

Id love to become more informed. I really do not know what to think about you and your posts, but almost every time you post in this thread I have the impression that OBS killed your cat and now you are seeking vengeance for it in each and every post. I suggest to stop posting in this thread if you do not have something good to add but bitter posts (sorry, but that's how I perceive most of your posts) For anyone else, I'm sorry I had to make such post.
