I usually hang out in a Teamspeak with friends but I really only want to have the audio coming from DotA 2 or Starcraft 2 on stream. It's possible with some virtual audio cable wizardry, but it's very hard to do. I tried it, got it to work once but it was so much hassle that it wasn't worth it.

I downloaded a program to test my ping to the twitch servers to decide the best one (and that's apparently Amsterdam). Could anyone point me towards the most likely cause of the problem? And if it should be bitrate/server settings, which is my suspicion, could anyone suggest reasonable bitrate and buffer settings? Specs: i5-3570K clocked to 4,3GHz (with potential to go higher if necessary) 8GB RAM @ 1600MHz Connection: I've toyed around with quality settings ranging from 6 to 10, and bitrate 3000-4400 with buffer size 4000-12000 and not found any combination that works so far.

Changing resolution+FPS like that you're talking ~70% higher load on the CPU from encoder

I used to stream with Xsplit at 720p/30fps, and I'd experience a *tiny* bit of game lag in 1v1. 4v4 would be nearly unplayable because of my system being taxed out. Tried OBS at 720p/60fps, and it's smooth as butter. WAY easier to set up too as the UI is more minimalistic while providing the same options.

I've set the size of the part to be 100*24 to get scrolling text captured but it always resets everything to be at least 32 pixels. I assume this is due to something with encoding but it necessitates a few quite dirty workarounds with partial overlap making changing anything once it's set up a lot more work than it has to be

My current settings are using game capture: 1600x900 res 20 fps 1000 max bitrate 1000 buffer size quality 7 My current set up is: i5-2500k @ 3.3 GHz GeForce GTX 570 14 Mb/s dl 4 Mb/s ul What should I change to get a smoother streaming experience? Am I limited mostly by my hardware or my network? A detailed OBS log can be found in my post on their forums: http://obsproject.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3252 Thanks!

probably some sort of connection (bandwidth) issue, like not having 4mbit up consistently (if it works at lower bitrates) or something like that

Thing with obs is that it doesn't seem so user friendly? Is it possible to stream with overlay with obs? I have tried even simple things as custom webcam resolutions and it gives me error messages...
