Can anyone help me with my settings? I have a quad-core 4.0ghz Phenom II x4 365 and 10 upload, but I still can't stream without the game (whether it's dota 2 or something else lagging).
Anyone available to help em get the right settings?
R1CH or Cyro to the rescue!

What do you guys think of using capture cards like the Elgato for streaming PC games? Is it worth it? If anyone uses it, how does it feel in game when streaming?

I believe you wanted to write 965, even so, that cpu is slightly worse than an 2nd gen i3 so don't expect too much from it. Generally speaking you should be able to get a decent 720p 30 fps.
@Gtoad, only R1CH.

How multithreaded is OBS? Will a quad core be fully utilized or will OBS take advantage of even more cores?

About as multithreaded as x264 for the CPU load that counts

N-2 . That depends on the OS scheduler.

Can anyone skype me and work through finding the right OBS settings for my computer? I'd be willing to pay for someone to help me as I am in desperate need to keep my stream going.
The issue I have is that I can run HOTS at extreme/ultra settings without a stream running, but when I stream I have to turn my graphics down to low everything. My graphics card seems to be getting maxed out somehow when I stream.
my setup: i5 760 2.8 GHz 8.0 gigs of Corsair Vengeance Ram Radeon 5850HD 1 gig
20 download // 20 upload
I don't understand OBS enough to understand where to start tweaking settings so that I can keep my game running High graphics at minimum and a solid 720p or 1080p stream.
PLEASE, i beg of you guys if you aren't well versed with the program as well as issues regarding this please do not offer possibilities and what not. I have already driven my brain through a wall on this issue. I prefer someone meet with me over skype UNLESS you have a solid set of recommended settings for OBS that I can try.

Has anyone else been getting crashes when streaming? I'm streaming WoL instead of HotS since I haven't picked it up yet, and it crashes with some kind of error. It makes the game lag for around 15 seconds. It keeps me in the game though, and it works fine. And when I restart OBS, the Starcraft client works, but it streams through OBS as a black screen. I can still stream the sound, but Starcraft doesn't show up. I have to restart the Starcraft client to make it work again.
Specs: CPU: 2500K GPU: Radeon HD 5770 RAM: 2x4 GB Ripjaws X DDR3 1333
I think those are the only specs that would matter, but if you need more info, just ask.
Thanks in advance!

So with Xsplit, there is a plugin called Whiteboard that acts (as you would guess) as a whiteboard where you can choose a color and draw on the screen, with some keyboard hotkeys to change colors, erase, undo, etc... It is a .swf plugin but for the life of me I cannot find the actual .swf anywhere on my computer or the Xsplit installation folder.
I recently downloaded the Browser Source Plugin for OBS (http://obsproject.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=3284) that allows you to use .swf or .html's directly in OBS. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a transparent .swf drawing board. I'd like to start to use something like that as a "telestrator" when I go through replays but so far haven't been able to find anything similar to what Xsplit's plugin does.

I know if you select game capture and the microphone in audio settings you'll get both your voice and game sounds on the stream, but how do I also make it so that skype conversations and music played on my computer are also heard on stream (without using VAC)?
Does this DirectShow Audio Source Plugin do the trick? If yes, how exactly, my brain is not working at all today... should I select stereo mix in the plugin, should I select output audio to stream only or what... I've read the OP in that thread but all that tech jargon and english as a second langauge is hurting my non-working brain today.

You shouldn't have any problems getting Skype and music to be heard on your stream. Just make sure Skype and OBS are set to the same playback device and everything should be audible to your viewers.

Thanks zorz. Can't believe I haven't tried it like that in the first place. From now on I'm not doing anything while I'm sleep depraved.
