Regarding game capture: I've been using it since it first came out on OBS, it's way better than dxtory performance wise and I never had any problems with it streaming fullscreen SC2. No. I was simply praising the mighty powers of R1CH

From a streaming with OBS perspective, is 2mbps enough to stream in 720P with good quality? This is from a pure streaming perspective, and not including other factors such as playing cross servers, which I'd love to do but is too laggy to do. I think if 25/2 isn't sufficient, then I might as well get 45/4 due to the following pricing: Right now I can upgrade from 28/1 for $47 + tax to 25/2, 35/3, 45/4, or 150/10 for $40, $50, $53, and $85 respectively. Apparently there's a FAQ for OBS which I didn't see or know about. It says I can safely do 720P with 2mbps upload. Do you guys, based on your own expierience, feel that is enough to stream in 720P? Or should I get 3mbps or 4mbps? 2mbits is perfectly acceptable for a 720p60/1080p30 stream, though i would look into if you are going to be paying for 2mbits, actually recieving 1.7 or something, and then having to cut off a bit to dedicate to game, voice chat etc.

I can get up to 10mbps according to my ISP, but no way in hell am I going to pay $96 a month. It is cable technology and not DSL so there's no overhead, syncing rates, etc. What about for FPS games? In the FAQ, it said for FPS games, the stream quality would have to be turned down a bit? Thanks.

The news article can be found here. Two interesting points that the article mentions are that, VP9 is free to use, unlike H.264 and a claim but the VP9 engineer: "You can save about 50 percent of bandwidth by encoding your video with VP9 vs. H.264." I wonder what implications this will have for streaming and if OBS would allow people to use a different encoding algorithm in the future.

There's also h265 coming very soon OBS/Xsplit, AFAIK, is limited to what is supported by Flash. I'd really like for twitch to make their own standard, a browser plugin or something instead of relying on flash and whatever video/audio formats it will accept

Only recently, when I try to use game capture for SC2, I only get a black screen with my mouse cursor showing. Nothing else. It's only began happening since yesterday, too. I've reinstalled OBS twice, it's the latest version, and I'm running it in admin. My SC2 is on windowed fullscreen as well. Anyone have any clue that could be going on?

That happened to me when streaming bioshock. I deleted the scene and remade it and it worked fine after that, give it a try

Here's the post. http://obsproject.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4287 edit: Ok I got it to work I posted a solution in my link and here's a quick copy paste from that: Ok after trying a whole bunch of shit I got it to work. I'm not exactly sure WHY it started working again but this is what I did before it started working: I uninstalled obs and I deleted the OBS folder in the AppData (C:\Users\Accountname\AppData\Roaming\OBS) now this will get rid of your settings and stuff but that shouldn't take more than 5 minutes to remake. After that I redownloaded and reinstalled OBS and redownloaded the plugins and stuff and clicked "Launch OBS." The first thing I did then was to test the gamecapture and see if it worked. I got a black screen but my mouse was visisble (and showed a sc2 mouse cursor). After that, I went to the OBS settings -> Video and changed the graphics card from Integrated to my NVIDIA graphics card. Then, I retried the gamecapture and all that showed up was a black screen (no mouse this time). After that I closed OBS, reopened it and when I tried it again, it worked for whatever reason. Now I've done this exact thing before (uninstalling obs and deleting the appdata obs folder), but before I did not have my NVIDIA settings to open OBS with my NVIDIA graphics card instead of my integrated graphics card, so I would suggest you do that first before you try reinstalling.
