(I know I will probably be scolded by skyR for this but i'm doing it because he wants both a desktop thats capable of streaming and a laptop that is half decent. Most of this stuff is coming from ebay for the sake of saving money.)

HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136769 (i never have and never will buy an HDD from ebay...)
Video Card: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VisionTek-Radeon-HD-6770-1GB-GDDR5-Video-Card-/350664619167?pt=PCC_Video_TV_Cards&hash=item51a53d749f
Comes out to be $439.37

Price for laptop $429.99 + $4.99 shipping

Hokay so definitely impossible to do just the laptop , awaiting build from Kami , I know you skyR and Belial are the man at desktop builds.
gogogogogogogogogoo posted above. see if you like it. You can change out the CPU and Motherboard at a later date and get something better. an i5 2400 will do 720p at stock though.

I got a Lenovo IdeaPad Y480 over this summer and it works great on streaming. Even 1080p. It was around 1000 back then and now I think it is 800
You could stream 1080p on that? I truly dont mean to be ruse but, I don't see that happening. Maybe a decent 720p stream but 1080p? And still have it playable?
With 1000 dollars tax not included you might get a pretty decent desktop.
there ya go, should work...
people will complain about the processor, but you should be fine with 3rd gen...
Only one of these left though...
