Making an AMD build scares me :l It really depends on what you want to do with it. I'm pairing the 1600x with 8 GB RAM because screw RAM pricing and my old R7 370. That GPU would be a really bad pairing for most people but in my case it's pretty good. Edit: And yea, go for the 1600X, the additional clock is pretty big, the 1500X is not that great.

I'm thinking something like this: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/VxqgHN I have storage drives, RX480, Case and PSU so I'd be picking up the CPU+Mobo+RAM combination. I'm thinking of running the stock cooler at first, then if I need more speed, I'll buy a cooler and overclock for the extra bit of performance. I may also go with 1x8 GB RAM and pick up another 8GB when/if RAM prices go down

I am presently looking to build a gaming PC. Most recently I have been playing lower GPU intensity games (eg. CSGO, SC2 and LoL) however would like to be able to venture into newer games. Maximum budget at this time is approximately $900 dollars with hard cap of $1000. Some features that I would like to incorporate are at least 128 solid state storage for OS and games. I was considering 16 gb of ram as I work with medical imaging (MRI/CT) and would like room for performance. I am planning on getting 1-2 34'' wide screen curved monitors or 4k resolution monitors. I have essentially come to this forum for a suggested/recommended set of components that I can buy and assemble with as little hassle as possible. I hope this isn't too vague a question for this forum and appreciate any helpful responses.

I'm currently looking to buy myself a new PC. For starters here are the answer to the template of questions: What is your budget? Was looking to go around 1000 Euro. No hard cap, if significant improvements can be made by going to say 1200-1300 that's fine. What is your monitor's native resolution? 3 monitors: 2 standard monitors 1920/1080 and 1 TV, probably also 1920/1080 but not sure. I have an active displayport-hdmi converter that I can use to hook up the 3rd. What games do you intend to play on this computer? What settings? Many games, but not super top end. I want to be able to run games like SC2 / HOTS / random collection of 100s of stream games at fairly high settings. What do you intend to use the computer for besides gaming? Mainly watching films/streams on 1 monitor at 1080p while playing games in windowed mode on the other. That means a fair few things need to be running at the same time. Do you intend to overclock? Not unless someone gives me a fool-proof explanation of how to do it. Do you intend to do SLI / Crossfire? Not unless someone gives me a fool-proof explanation of how to do it. Do you need an operating system? I probably do, but I may be able to get one relatively cheap. Can leave it out for now Do you need a monitor or any other peripherals and is this part of your budget? No If you have any requirements or brand preferences, please specify. No What country will you be buying your parts in? The netherlands If you have any retailer preferences, please specify. I usually buy here https://www.alternate.nl/PC/PC-Builder. But anything that ships to the Netherlands at a reasonable price is OK I guess. I find that I have become quite clueless in the last few years when it comes to comparing performances. I was also looking at this prebuilt computer (Saturnus) but I have no idea how that'd compare to building a rig myself at around the same price. Any advice/help is appreciated!

Then I saw this bundle: http://www.ncix.com/detail/ncix-bundle-deal-gigabyte-z170mx-5d-134329.htm Thoughts? I am thinking of upgrading and am willing to wait a bit longer if this isn't that great. I honestly don't know how much value is actually in this bundle compared to my i53570k build If its nothing special, I could also just wait and continue to save up a few hundred a month and grab something in the fall.

I'm wondering if you need to upgrade at all. Are you having performance problems? A i5 3570k OC should still be able to deliver 60fps with high settings on 1080p in almost all new games with your graphics Card (1070). I mean, if you have the spare money, go for it, but I don't think an upgrade is necessary. (I have the same CPU, OC to 4.4 Ghz, but I lack a modern graphics card. what I read in several forums the cpu is still holding up fine with modern GPUs, but I don't have the practical experience yet.) Edit: A quick google brought up this thread from a BF4 Forum: https://forums.battlefield.com/en-us/discussion/38085/holy-crap-the-cpu-requirement-i-have-an-i5-3570k Several People commented that they get 60-80 fps in 64-Man-Maps with a i5 3750k and a fitting GPU.

Its nearing on 5 years old and it was a bad chip. anything above 4.2 will crash, and on default clocks it runs a vcore of 1.25, anything less and it crashes. So I'm prepping for the future and if there are sales I'll hop on them But even ME:A on max graphics has drops no lower than 47 fps at 1080p. I can't imagine hitting 4.4ghz though. Not without a stupidly high vcore. Maybe its just the mobo idk.

I am thinking of buying a gaming laptop. Normally i would buy a desktop but i cant because I need to get it to work also in order to do crystallography simulations with Olex2 and to run MatLAB simulations on 2D HYSCORE spectra. The laptop that i have now is a lenovo Y500 and it is the one with only 1 graphics card. Both of those programs r really heavy and whenever i check the CPUs they seem to go to 100% (not all of them at once). My laptop has an i7 3rd generation with 8gb of ram and a geforce 650m gpu. So now the first question is: I was researching a lot about gaming laptops and all of them seem to have some problems. Razer overheating ASUS ROG some compatability MSI cheap plastics etc etc. from which company do u think that i should buy? Im thinking of ASUS. I dont mind either if it is going to be 15 or 17 inches or how many kilos cause ill be cycling but not more than 5 Budgetwise i can spend around 2000 to 2500 pounds but cheaper is much appreciated The place ill be buying from is Amazon except if u know any better place from the UK. So im organising to buy the laptop around june or july. also if possible tell me only the latest ones that r good enough with 7th generation processor and to be intel a nvidia 1070 would be great also cause in general i keep my laptop for around 4 to 5 years. i play all kind of different games and i would like to play all the new games also the ones that they say that have awesome graphics. cheers

ASUS has really good case engineering, I honestly think I could have dropped my laptop from a 6ft ladder and it wouldn't have cared one bit. They also do a really good job with heat, I am not even sure how but it never felt "hot" even after very extended hours of intense graphical gaming. Most laptops feel really hot if you leave them on a bed/on your lap but asus does a good job of getting the heat focused around the rear fans and getting it out. I had three different ASUS laptops in those 8 yrs and only one of them actually broke and it was before the warranty was up. I literally just walked into best buy, they tested my CPU that I told them was bad and it was confirmed bad. They replaced it for me on the spot, pretty cool. While I worked in the computer shop I was also always impressed with the MSI machines that came in, they always felt good to use but I never personally owned one. The alienware stuff was always dumb and broken, don't do that.

But they don't have any models with a 1070.
