Hi So I have this weird issue for the past week that when i start a ladder (ranked or unranked) game, my whole computer crash in the middle of the loading screen. Everything just goes black and irresponsive even to ctrl+alt+del, and i have to manually shut down and restart my computer. I have a fairly recent computer, that worked perfectly fine for thousand of ladder games beforehand. As i don't know if it's and hardware damaging thing, i dont really feels like testing if it happends more on ranked or arcade or customs...
Anyone has ever experienced/ heard about something like that ?

Does this only happen for Starcraft and nothing else? What have you checked so far? Have you got a new part recently? Start with downloading a Temperature checking program and see if it's heat.
|
yeah it's only starcraft, and only in the loading screen. So far i've updated everything that was possible to update on my pc, like pilots and stuff. I didnt had new parts or touched anything hardware related. I think it'es related to the new update, because there is people on the battle net forum experiencing crashes midgame since. no real answers from blizz

additionaly, my computer had ran something like 2k games without problem before that

Maybe something about the software running on your computer changed one or two weeks ago.
Look at a calendar and think about the last date when you could still play fine and then the first date where the new problem showed up. Then go and use the search box of the Windows Control Panel to get to the areas where it shows lists of installed programs and updates. There's at least two lists like that, one is the screen where you can uninstall normal programs, and one is called something like "view installed updates". The lists on those screens have a date column that you can use to sort by date. Something might feel suspicious.

roll back your graphics driver. You didn't say your hardware but i need to use 353.30 for nvidia because of several issues and that's a pretty ancient version
|
well I actually updated it just now to get rid of the problem, and the driver i was using was pretty old too. so it's not the update that triggered it. Also thanks Ropid, i found nothing suspicious but it was a pretty good idea nontheless !

Did you have a power spike in the recent past? Just thinking if a component has broken, in which case it would be a matter of finding which one.
You have re-installed the game and seen if that fixed it?

it seems to be working now after the new update, but every time i click on "play" it feels like playing russian roulette

What's happened since? I'm experiencing similar issues, and am hoping to find the reasons for myself too.

(also, browsers crashing constantly, SC2 Crashing).

well i've cleaned my computer perfectly, including renewing thermal paste on cpu and gpu, and updated pretty much everything i could. But i've played very little sc2 since, and only in 2v2 (the crashes always were on 1v1 queue) so I don't know if it changed something
|
ok i think i got it now during the last seconds of the loading screen, i'm used to hold the "s" key so that i only have to click on my cc to make my first scv. All of my crashes happened when i'm holding the key in the loading screen. Does somebody have ever experienced something like that ?

I am having a similar problem. My screen doesn't turn black though, it just freezes. campaign was fine, but any time I try to load a multiplayer game, even against the A.I. (the only thing I feel safe enough to try) it freezes right at the end of the loading screen when it tries to transition into the game.
I went back and played one campaign mission just to double check that it still worked (maybe I had changed something and forgotten) and when I came back and tried an A.I. game it was fine, but then when I tried to play another the second game froze. I'd prefer not to have to load a campaign mission before every ladder game I want to play, but I might have to.
It's definitely the transition from the load screen to the game that is freezing my computer because on the training maps it loads and then asks you to press a key to start and it doesn't freeze until after I press a key. Any help would be much appreciated and if you'd like info like dxdiag and stuff I will post later. in probably 11 hours (gotta head to work right now).

my problem is "fixed" by not touching anything during the loading screen, so it wont apply to you sadly. I've posted about my problem and your on the battle net tech forum, no answers yet
