Hi,
was thinking about buying a VPN service to sorta get a bit more anonymous online. First question is if anyone can recommend a good one? I am in northern Europe, Norway if that somehow matters. Which is also sort of a question i have, does it's location matter a lot? Like would a VPN service that is close to me be the best?
I am also wondering how much it affects ping? And would it by default work on all machines in my network? Someone recommended https://www.hidemyass.com/ to me earlier but it seems this only works for browsing and not for example gaming?
Anyone that can take a few minutes to enlighten me?

I am also curious about this. In particular, how reliable are the most popular VPNs that charge money? Is there a way to set it up so that even if you're somehow disconnected from the server your location will not be revealed?

Since i was browsing the forum decided to make a quick search because of this same issue, i used hidemyass long time ago but it didn't help much because their system is quite laggy, lately i have been trying to unblock Netflix and a couple of other websites that are not available here and i decided to give a try to NordVPN so far so good, the speed is optimal and so far i'm able to watch streams and other bandwidth consuming websites with almost 100% performance.
If you want you can check some services that allow you to try their product first before purchasing or just buy the cheapest ones https://vpntrends.com/best-vpn-services here is a good list of the most used.

I'd say it really depends on what you're planning on using it for. The best VPN for me might not be the best VPN for you. Personally I would recommend reading this: https://thatoneprivacysite.net/choosing-the-best-vpn-for-you/ There's a plethora of VPN-services out there and the author won't tell you what the "best" VPN service is, rather he'll give advice on what to think about when selecting one. It's quite a long read, but I found it very helpful back when I was reading up on VPNs.
If nothing else check out the comparison chart on the site that is linked early in the article, just keep in mind that it still won't tell you the "best" service, but compares the features for you to make your own decision.
