Hello TL,
I'm having a weird bug since a few weeks with my W7.
Sometimes, randomly everything isn't oppening anymore. For exemple this morning i could not launch WoW nor taskmgr.
I can browse the computer fine but if i try opening a program it doesn't do anything. If i open a new tab on my already opened Chrome, i can't go anywhere. The new tab open but if i just type google.com, nothing happens. Like it's loading forever
A simple reboot fixes the issue but it's kind of annoying. And by reboot i mean via the button. I can open Start menu but when i click restart it doesn't work.
What i already did with no resullts :
- Anti-virus scan (found nothing) - Anti-malware scan (found nothing) - Chkdsk on all disks (found nothing)
Any ideas ?

Another thing you can try is, type the following command at an Administrator command prompt window:
sfc /scannow
This is the "system file checker" tool that comes with Windows 7. It checks all files that belong to Windows and replaces changed files. It will report if it tried to repair something.

Just tried it and it found nothing apparently.
Do i have to run it on all disk ?
|
No, that "system file checker" is only for the Windows files, so nothing to do with other disks.
About the problem, perhaps there's something interesting in the "Windows Event Viewer" in the "Administrative Events" section (should be in the first section in the list on the left). The list there can be ordered by date. There might be one entry that you only see whenever you have that problem.

Sounds like something deadlocked in kernel land. Try uninstalling "invasive" stuff like anti-virus software to isolate the problem.

Hello again. Sorry if i didn't checked out this thread (not a lot of TL time on my hand).
So to answer those old posts. There is nothing in the windows event system. No error, some warning but nothing out of the ordinary.
@R1ch. Well it happens really randomly. It happened only two times since i last posted here. And when it happens i can't shutdown antivirus. I can't shutdown everything. Sometimes i'll get a "Windows explorer stopped working" but i can't click ok .
I managed this time to go to desktop and ALT F4 and the shutdown menu opened. Asked for a restart then nothing happened. Tried running shutdown, shutdown -a shutdown -t 0
I was playing Wow and could play just nice no problems. I noticed it 'cause i was trying to find something on wowhead and when i opened a new tab in chrome and it did nothing i knew it happened again.
I'll try checking this thread more often but i just can't reproduce the issue.

System not responding / not opening programs / freezes = format disk, install fresh system / create new windows profile
OR if you prefer research way:
Something is blocking it software or hardware side. Maybe its disk failure, scan with hdtune for badsectors. Or maybe its just spyware / malware / another shiet that antivirus cant detect (maybe its infected too).
Download nod32online scanner, adwcleaner, malwarebytes antimalware and scan computer with these tools. Uninstall chrome, delete every folder left by it and install it again. Install ublock addon or adblock after first launch.
It might sound trivial but doing all the research only to find out that computer is infected by 1k viruses or windows just overused and require rebuilding of registery, its better and faster to simply format disk and install fresh windows from usb really Kappa : )

Hello and thx for the answer.
I just can't format. I have 4Tb of stuff installed. Reinstalling everything would take me a week at least
HD Tune scan got this : (i ran error scan)
- System disk => Error scan : Everything green Health : Everything is ok.
- Data disk where stuff i use (when problem occurs) is installed => Error scan : Everything green (did quick scan for this one) Health : Doesn't seam to work on this drive.
I didn't scan all my disks because it takes a lot of time and there's a lot of stuff that i uses on other disks but it never occured on those stuff (basicly my music HDD with cubase and a lot of plugins on it).
My computer is clean. I really don't think it's infected but hey. You never know so i tried your stuff. Nod32 online scan : No stuff detected affter a really LOOOOONG scan.
AdwCleaner : Found stuff in chrome
MalwareBytes : Found nothing (i didn't clean with adwcleaner at this time to see if it would see the same things)
So maybe adwcleaner helped ? I will see. Thanks again.
