So I got my hands on two malfunctioning E520 and E530 laptops.
I thought these two models would be VERY similar but they're not quite as similar as I expected.
The E520 had no faults EXCEPT it couldn't be powered on any longer but apparently this is a relatively well known issue with some motherboards from that series.
The E530 I didn't have much info about other than the HD being done.
I took the HD from the E520 and put it in the E530 and got it running without any major issues other than the WiFi not being detected. Reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate and still the same. Took the WiFi card from the E520 and put replaced the previous one in the E530. Win7 detected it and installed drivers. I see my network it won't connect to it. Could this somehow be a driver issue? When its capable of detecting the network and everything without any trouble? I have restarted my router/modem etc and there's no issues on my other devices.
I tried creating a bootable hardware diagnostic utility from the Lenovo website on a USB but it doesn't get anywhere after I boot it...
Any ideas?
